No rope for the break. Gap is small enough to jump across for the KOM riders and any other half decent climbers that want to be in front

Still SImon Clarke is struggling to bridge - why is he even bothering?

and why isn't Cunego going for it today?

Good job doing nothing Astana. Everyone will be alone on the Mortirolo anyway.
But for astana it would have been important to isolate alberto before the mortirolo

That was never going to happen. Better to go full gas on Mortirolo with absolutely everything they have.

So astana already failed to exploit their numbers once again, on the mortirolo team don't matter.

It's a terrible tactic to hope contador will drop at mortirolo.

Well, it's a terrible tactic to hope Contador will drop anywhere. :p

I think their tactic might be to isolate him on the Mortirolo, hopefully get to Edolo with the usual trio and then let Aru and Landa attack one after another on the way to Aprica. Eventually AC will let one loose, the other will wheelsuck him all the way and hope he bonks or sth.

Juul would be perfect in a Sky train.

Forever lasting and ready to work. A shame for Tinkoff that their rouleurs are better than their climbers. :D

Well said. One of them can attack at the Mortirolo descent as well.

I have a senstation Contador must be feeling really strong and detremined today. Going at the front of his train and pushing a little during that turn. Wow.

I think it's surprising there wasn't a much bigger group going away on the first climb. There aren't any other stages with the early climbs. Hesjedal is in the right place and can potentially catch the Astana train after the Mortirolo. A lot of other riders are going to miss that train

Clarke made it, I was wrong again.

Contador has no problem descending, doubt an attack downhill will work unless he crashes.
