Maybe he hopes that he will start Mortirolo with some advantage and then the race explodes there and most of GC guys are dropped before Contador and Landa can catch him.

The Category 3 climb only awards a maximum of 7 points.

The Category 1 climb only awards a maximum of 32 points.

Intxausti is on 91 and Landa is on 54. So if Landa gets maximum on Mortirolo and wins the stage, he will move to 93. You would think Intxausti will pick up a few points on Mortirolo.

Huh? Doesn't Intxausti have 85 points? I don't think he has taken any points so far in this stage. Landa will cross Mortirolo as the first rider and I don't think Intxausti will get any points today.

Landa, Aru and Contador will attack each other. Meanwhile a rider won't go into the red and just go up the road whilst they are looking at each other and then hold on.
