So what does the top 5 look like?

1. Contador
2. Landa
3. Aru
4. Amador
5. Trofimov
I meant time wise ;)

1 Contador 2 Landa+4.02 3 Aru+4.52 4 Amador+5.48 5 Trofimov+8.27

Thanks. That's far more comfortable than I expected for Contador. Still, he's only one more mechanical away from serious danger.

Reminds me of Froome-Cobo in the 2011 Vuelta. Poor Landa.
This is nothing like that. Froome can actually TT. Landa is good at wheelsucking then attacking in the end, but this is nothing like that race.

Landa was strong but let's see what he can do when Contador can focus on him.
Exactly. If it wasn't already clear, Landa is the most dangerous to AC at this point. We'll see how Landa likes it with AC just sitting on HIS wheel now.

LOL Landa looks like he just went out for an easy 1 hour spin.

He could have won the Giro today. So sad when the strongest man in a GT doesn't win the GC. :(

He is not the strongest...he lost 4 min in time trial. Don't forget that rather important fact. A couple stage wins doesn't make him the strongest rider. Strongest rider will win GC...it won't be him.

I can't wait to see the excuses astana will come up to justify them riding. Teams always deny doing it :D
Well, Landa just said "We collaborated with Katusha".

of course they did - the object is to win. frighteningly for astana and katusha, their collaboration FAILED to even moderately harm contador, let alone get rid of him.

still some serious stages to go - will astana have the balls to race for the pink or ride for second, hoping contador will bonk or mechanical or crash causing a time loss big enough to win the race?

Stop saying landa was the strongest in this giro. He lost more than 4 min in the ITT.

And he wheelsucked a contador who was 50 sec behind on mortirolo in this stage.

If Landa had been the leader since the beginning, Contador probably would have problems to win this giro

Why that? He would still get those 4+ minutes he took in the ITT.
Landa would have gotten more time out of this stage if he had been the leader. More over we don't know how strong he really was in the time aru was able to fight against contador.
I don't think so. He got 38 seconds on AC today because he wheelsucked 174 kilometres. The stage would have played out totally different had Landa been the leader.

As I already stated, with around 2 minutes behind the races' strongest climber Landa on Mortirolo, Contador would've cracked and lost it. I honestly believe that and Leclerq has had the same idea!

But we will never know. Sadly enough.

I hope Gibo didn't saw that stage. Otherwise he must be pretty irritated by Martinelli's loyalty to his weaker team leader.

That really was a stage like back in the golden days. Or am I just to young to compare?

But there was still the situation before the mortirolo where alberto was 1 minute behind landa. Alberto didn't have any teammates left and mikel probably was as strong as contador if not stronger than him. That means that landa probably would have finished about 1 minute or more in front of alberto. Of course I don't want to say that Landa, as a captain, would win this for sure but there are also 3 mountain stages left, so AC won't be as safe as he is now.

Lol. NO. Its easy to wheelsuck and then attack. Its not easy being a leader. Its even less easier being a leader in a GT. Ask Porte. Ask Aru.

Landa the strongest rider in the Giro what a joke...now consider this Landa lost 4 minutes in the TT and in today's stage he attacks in the Mortirolo he probably would have not let Contador close down that gap and at the top he would have had a 40 or 50 sec and he could have easily lost that time in the descent and the 5km flat after it with Contador and Kruswijk working together he could have even been distanced in the drag up to the finish after he is drained with spending 35k alone...now tell me who is the strongest

Just seen the replay of Landa's attack, it looked sick, but I think Alberto was in total control and had the whole race pictured in his head.
Why would he let Landa go? That is wishful thinking. Still that doesn't change the fact that Landa needs to prove himself against Contador when both start on equal terms. If he can win that duel, he is truly the best climber of this Giro.
