Condizioni meteo buone su Gavia e Stelvio. Alle 9.30 ulteriore controllo, si va verso una tappa regolare #Giro

Last twitter (9.07 am CET+1) from Antonino Morici who's following the Giro still confirms the stage, citing "good meteo conditions"

What I fear, if the original stage is raced, is that the riders will neutralise the race till the last climb

not with soemthing like 15 colombians in the peloton

Do you really want the riders to go through -5 degrees and possible snowfall ?
There aren't -5. Right now it's around 0 at the top. And it's still morning.

As for the snow, if there's no ice, yes.

It's not official until they actually start climbing ;)

They take huge risks by including such climbs. Most of the precipitation up until May there is snow. So if the weather is not sunny, you have a high probability of having to cancel these high alpine passes.

Well it'll get cooler a sthe day progresses actually.

Ok i hope this doesn't end in desaster.
I am all for hard and toug racing. But going over 2500 m with that weather conditions is simply too dangerous.

If the roads are safe and the riders dress well it's possible.
The first is something the organisers are responsible for and the 2nd is something the riders/staff are responsible for.

It's currently 1.7C on top of the Gavia.
Forecast about 3C at race time. So not getting colder.

Cold, but not the stuff that GTs should cancel their Queen stage for.

Indeed, if they start racing and it starts snowingon the gavia and stelvio the stage will be neutralised during the race.

Indeed. Aslong as there is no snow the race is on. Good news.

I guess there is also a big risk that the riders will neutralize the 2 climbs
