Thanks Benotti, anyone else to post something posted several times literally over 100 pages ago? We gotta hit that 281.

It's a bike race is it not? The hungry one's were at the front. Did they pass the red flag, or not - that's my question. If they passed the red flag(?)s, it's a whole different question. If the Race Organizer wants to take over the race then follow (them), as close as possible. That's Racing.

Yes, he did. Marco Velo, ex-pro, was on the motorbike and said Quintana repeatedly asked the bike to accellerate and then passed the motorcycle when it didn't comply. He and his companions then distanced it.

The race radio record? Why don't we start by discussing yesterday's weather forecast before the race started, and speculate as to the most appropriate course of action for the organizers to take?

This is probably the thing that leaves a bad taste regarding the riders. If true, they broke the rules to gain time.

According to Carlos Arribas from El Pais, teams want #giro-organizers to take 55 seconds of Quintana's lead or they'll take further actions.

I understand the sentiment behind that demand, but it would be such an arbitrary botched solution.

This would indicate to me that Quintana didn't understand the red flag was for neutralization.

lol, that would be the worst possible solution.

Agreed. There seem to be three more or less justifiable solutions, none of which is perfect: leave things as they are; neutralize the stage with respect to GC; disqualify those who overtook a red flat.

Leaving things as they are is probably the least unsatisfactory.

It's reasonable, and do it before the ITT. I think everybody would agree, in hindsight, Quintana would've taken at least 2 minutes on everybody else on that final climb.

Agree.

For the future, organizers needs to analyse if its possible/practical to "neutralize" part of a descent in similar situation.

Time the riders at the top of Stelvio, neutralize the descent totally, and release the riders at the bottom with the gaps of the top.
