The lack of fight is surely disappointing, but I fully appreciate Denz tactics here and found it nice to watch. First catching the front group on his own. Then probably noticing that riders like Hoole are not taking a turn, knowing that this was the right place and right time to attack as he had weaker riders right behind him (Conci and Maestri).

At least someone is paying attention. Regardless of what you might read on here, no-one is winning from a group like this by accident

Of course not by accident, but I expect DS, who are supposed to be the ones to think and anticipate possible scenarios. No blame on the riders, they are just racing, and racing with 3 weeks of fatigue and all day in the break.

I honestly think Maestri missed a better chance to win when getting dropped by Asgreen the other day. Sprinting for 2nd is not the same as for 1st, nor would it likely have ended up in a sprint for the win anyway.
