Guardini looks the likely winner out of that break, all depends if they stay away I guess. Pozzovivo is going to take time out of the other GC contenders today, doubtful that it will be anywhere near enough though.
Yeah..Guardini..Or maybe Haedo.

That's true but it's no good waiting until tomorrow to see if Hesjedal cracks.

Indeed. The pace will go on pretty severely in the stage, i just think that point will be later today than it will be tomorrow.:) I can see people trying to set a hot pace right from the start tomorrow as there are climbs there. Today i dont think its quite as beneficial as there is more flat ground at first. Last day in the mountains you can throw everything and everyone at it.

lucas is actually pretty good climber for a sprinter. but the break is full of crappy climbers anyway. sella is totally out of it as well

Maybe Guardini's just hitching a ride hoping that the time gained over the peloton now gives him more chance of finishing inside the time limit?

despite the stagewins it's really been a giro of terrors for androni... they were so muc hbetter in prep races. But then serpa got injured, rujano sick, sella seems crap. Rubiano fallen...

Yeah - you're probably closer to the truth.

There were obviously reasons for Sella's "form" a few years ago but you're right he seems to be totally useless since his return.

Not from his return. This year. He returned roughly at the same relative level he was before his 2008 shenanigans, but this year he hasn't been good at all.

Still, not many in that break should climb much better than him.

Speaking of Androni what happened to Monsalve this year hes won langkawi and looks incredibly promising

Monsalve was injured before the Giro I believe.

I wouldn't bet on the break at this point

I wouldn't bet on the favourites at this point either, it's way too early to tell. Let's see who makes the pace on Manghen.

How big a gap are they going to allow the break, I wonder. Kreuziger couldn't find a way to get in it, I see

From this break only Rohregger, Pirazzi and Flecha are in Top 50 so I guess they feel best and might possibly contend for victory. Pirazzi would be my bet, great rider.

Pauwels should get down to the last two in this break.

Garate's Giro has been crappy so far but he knows how to win a stage like this. I think on paper both him and Casar are way stronger than Pauwels. Maybe even Rohregger

Garate got a cold last week just before the mountains. In the very first 'mountain' stages he was doing well (top 20). After than he regressed

Casar already mentioned.

Sella and Santaromita are 44th and 50th respectively so just squeeze into the top 50.

ok, thanks, I did not find any information about him but that's just what I was thinking more or less. Usually he doesn't tend to finish mountain stages in the grupetto

Pirazzi, Garate, Rohregger, Casar, Santaromita, Pauwels, Sella, Zeits.

Eight decent climbers in the break (although Pauwels and Santaromita are not exactly brilliant and Sella is in very bad form). Flecha is in good shape but lacks the climbing skills.

TUTTI PAZZI PER PIRAZZI! Not that they'll make it, probably.
