Froome or Contador?

Froome is looking better but I am not sure he is strong enough to get away as early has he will need to to make up significant time.

Contador is probably in the same position. I have no doubt he can accelerate away from Froome but I doubt he can then maintain the tempo required to stay away for a number of kms on the climb. However he does not need to, it is Froome that needs to get away and stay away if he wants to win the Vuelta

Rodriguez might be able to stay with these two but Valverde will not be able to stay with them if they go for it on the steepest parts of the climb. Aru will probably beat Valverde as might a couple of other riders.

Somehow I kind of hope Froome is able to drop Contador as I really like Froomes willpower during this Vuelta and he seems to get better and better and somehow I get the feeling Contador is fading a bit.

Then again I really like Contador and I do prefer him to win this Vuelta, but a 1 seconds gap is enough and it would be great for the suspense :D

I'm okay with Froome winning by 1 second today:p

Poels, Niemec, Coppel and Mederel have 10 minutes

Bonus seconds might be gone already. I'm sure Sky know what they're doing :p

tbh I think the best move for sky is to save everyone and then go full gas us postal style from the bottom of the climb.

If Froome drops Contador today, what are everyone's views on who the best climber in the world is when fully fit?

best climber? quintana of course

That joke is getting old. Quintana might want to actually outclimb Froome and Contador at least once on important climbs before he is even in the conversation. Outclimbing a Contador that gets outclimbed by Kreuzinger doesn't count, nor Froome when he leads by a million hours and doesn't have to respond.

Considering the fact that Contador is coming back from a leg fracture, I don't think I'd say he's fully fit.

But if Froome drops Contador today, then I'd say that Froome is a better climber than Contador when Contador is coming back from a broken leg. Happy?

I'm aware neither of them is fully fit. That doesn't preclude today's duel from being informative about who's better IF they are fully fit.

I'd say a better measure of who the better climber is what happened at the Dauphine.

While I understand the scepticsm, all injuries are not alike, particularly fractures.
