Maybe because his cheating didn't win him the stage

lol Basso still had an advantage.
And pinotti was the most strong today by far, even without the motor bike he would have won.
He rode it well, saving his energy in the mountains for the final TT.

I thought all three GTs last year were excellent. Way better than this Giro anyway.

The Giro was over after a week (though had some great stages on the penultimate weekend), the Vuelta stopped after two weeks, and the Tour didn't serve up anything except for crashes until the last week.

Still, all three were better than this Giro, which was worse than the 2009 Vuelta, worse than the 2007 Vuelta, worse than the 2004 Giro and might even be worse than the 2009 Tour, the yardstick against which all miserable GTs should be measured, simply because we could actually have reasonable expectations for this one.

So he wasn't motivated when he was 51th and riding himself up to 6th in TdF 2010? De Gendt riding for podium (or more) didn't recieve the same performance boost it seems.
Excuse me, if I am not 100% convinced.

LOL!

Forgot -- they are ALL dirty!

Should probably start posting in the Clinic while it's still hot.

I didn't think we could have a worse year of racing than 2011, but by God they're trying.
The world would certainly be a better place if you stop whining. I don't know what kind of God you have, but last year was a great year, and this year looks even better. :)

How is this revenge? If De Gendt had won I would have agreed. But Ryder haven't helped this race more than Rodriguez.

At least he tried something, and wasn´t considered a favourite. Keep that in mind. The big guys were on strike, especially the stage where JRod could have taken some seconds. It´s sooo sweet. :D

Hesjedal rode that ITT with total concentration. I could not believe how close he was cutting it in the corners. He was on a very narrow set of tires as well.

Some big preperation obvious in the way he handled the bike.

Rodriguez was good as well but, I can see the most of it coming down to the speed carried through the corners.

Would have, could have, should have. Contador was by far the strongest in 2010 TDF, you know

Van halen rocking the giro.

Shame to see the ttt was decisive though. Always painful to see headstarts be important.
We need longer TTTs to make sure teams can't just bring a team full of climbers to blockade the mountain stages.

I await the: Rate this Giro, thread.
Could get more interesting than the actual race!
(no, not really)

I never thought I'd say this: but that ITT was at least 10kms too short.

Don't be then, and get to the clinic.

You could try to come up with some kind of explanation, instead of thinking that one word posts adds something to the discussion.

Libertine Seguros actually supplied some valid points, like risk taking etc.

But you on the other hand: if you don't want to discuss the subject why do you bother to post at all?

Well, the race is finally over. I'd say we can move on to better things, but then I remembered the Dauphiné parcours.

Hey at least we got the Tour de Suisse!

Oh wait...

Giro last year was pretty awesome though. Also the Vuelta this year will be awesome.

lets not talk about doping here please.
39 seconds is a pretty big gap, IMO I think he was the best today.

No, it's good enough. De Gendt might have been even better because he wasn't in contention until yesterday, but Hesjedal will do. He actually sort of attacked when most people agreed he didn't need to take more time, and he took responsibility for the chase yesterday. That's A LOT more than Purito (not to mention Scarponi) did.

When are they going to actually win a few road races, not clock races?
We all know TTs are totally boring.:p
