Good for Dupont then. But he's the exception. Look at many others that did the Giro and how they ended up in this Tour.

I'm glad he's out of contention. Not sure he should have been riding with the CAS thing hanging over him. In many ways this has been the best situation: he has animated the race but if he is subsequently banned it won't affect the overall.

Good for the Tour that it looks like AC is beaten on the road this year. whether or not he gets banned (would deserve it, of course). No matter, if Andy, Fränk or Cadel finish the job- the legend of the unbeatable GT-rider is likely to be over. Lance Armstrong never risked to lose a Tour before 2009- AC did. Courage? I am not sure. BTW: Of coursen this years Giro was hard and AC totally ruled it. But the contention was weak compared to the Tour. Scarponi and a Nibali not at his best as top-rivals? C'mon. This Giro-victory is of minor value, because no in-form Schlecks, Basso and/or Evans there ("Not a valuable win because AC wasn' there" - That's what all the AC-fans would have said about this years Tour-winner had AC missed the race. So it is just fair to apply the same method to him). Man, I love this Tour!

Contador will get to keep all his results this season.

Are you saying that the Tour is "ridden" at a different speed ;)

Really? I hadn't considered that but one you mention it, that's what happened to Valverde isn't it?

Even better if he doesn't win it then assuming CAS rule against him, if they don't my position is neutral

I was just trying to find who said that a few days ago so I could say this.

Some expert in a Dutch newspaper, can't remember which one though, said that AC wouldn't lose any results he got since RFEC cleared him.

So the "unbeatable" GT rider gets beat, so what! Although I've never read/heard Contador say he is unbeatable. As for Armstrong, showed me he had no ball, he wouldn't ride 2 GT's in a season cos he is a pu$$y(yes he rode 2 in 09 or 10 but 1 of them was for the Benjamin'$).

i love how people say scarponi and nibali aren't good competition when both have beaten the almighty evans on last years giro by a comfortable margin even tho they didn't even bothered chasing his pathetic excuse of an attack on the last mountain stage.

ok let the excuses why evans was beaten in the giro by those guys start to roll.

btw nibali = 1 GT won with 5 minutes over frank schleck whom you also name on you list of top GT contenders

evans = 0 GT's and it doesn't look like he will win the tour either.

thats why i can't stand evans, there is always a nice excuse. what will be this years excuse?

The "unbeatable" thing was a myth surrounded around Armstrong creating his ultimate Tour-legacy. Contador himself has been pretty relaxed this Tour knowing he already did a GT, and won it.

I dont think he will feel that devastated today.

I think the greater perspective tells a slightly different story.

Dupont has been a domestique for Roche first and now for Peraud, he would be in the top15-20 had he ridden for GC. So I think it's safe to say Dupont it's pretty much at his Giro level.

Blowing it would mean that he was leading the race comfortably then cracked and lost it. He didn't. He had bad luck plus a hard Giro. Yet he's still only 4min. off yellow. What racer in recent memory has been able to do that?

Try again.

Well - I guess some people are better left ignored ;) Conti is still a great champ.

What did AC have for lunch?

You mean this one? No chasing there.

The 154 riders who finished below him ;)

I don't know if he had a hunger knock, but I doubt it. He's just got too many race miles in his legs.

@ Nastyy: Yeah, you could be right on both counts. But we'll likely never know, given the situation.

Sure does, if someone hadn't posted that I would have.

I give all the respect and admiration that this Grand Champion derserves!
Winner of 6 grand tours, only the fifth rider in history to win all three grand tours. His name stands next to those of Anquetil, Gimondi, Hinault, and Merckx.

Damned that's rarified company :)

Next year I hope he points for the Tour and if he feels good coming out of it, tries the Vuelta.

In my job if an accusation is made against me I would be suspended pending the investigation. I would be presumed innocent but it is recognised that it is not helpful to have me working until the legal process has been completed and final judgement made.

In Contador's case a final judgement has not yet been reached, therefore in a similar way I don't think it's helpful that he is still working.

I am not seeking to discuss the CAS case here nor am I presuming anything. (hence if not when)

I also appreciate the way he has ridden and animated the race this year.

Landis won when everybody counted him out. You can do it Berto!!It's your gearing that"s holding you back! It's all in your gearing man, if you txt or call me I will get you the set up to get you on the podium, you may want to switch to an aero helmet for the climb that will shave off some extra seconds..don't eat any of last years meat! That stuff is contaminated!!

every rider ''risks'' losing a tour simply by starting , and since when did winning become a ''lesser value''.....it was a grand tour , right? you beat the guy that shows up with a number on his back and you dont worry about the ones not there

well actually thats exactly what happened , and the final judgement was innocence.........you are confusing an appeal to a different court with the final judgment
