Great day of racing overall.

Today may not have been perfect for Pogačar with that nasty crash but that made his win even more iconic. Showing very good legs ahead of MSR too, hope he will be fully recovered by then.

Pidcock seems to have stepped up this season and its took some balls to attack Pogačar on Sante Marie and then take turns with him. One of his best performance imo.

Very good day for Wellens that after his work was still able to get third. Healy with a nice recovery at the end too.

That was a good group for Wellens to come out of. In retrospect, he could have sat on wheels longer and maybe got a little closer to pidcock as a group. But a podium spot was assured out of a strong bunch.

Once more confirmation I preferred the 180 km strade Bianchi over the current format. In the same way i am not that big of a fan of the new version of Flanders. I'm not saying riders like alaphillipe, van der poel, ... no longer stand a chance at their very best, but I would say someone like Vingegaard now has a bigger chance of winning Flanders and Strade just cause of all the climbs. Despite Vingegaard not being much of a 1 day rider. That is how much a shift these 2 races have made imo. And i don't see it as a welcome change. Much prefer a more diverse field is capable of winning.

These races all have to get harder because the equipment is getting better, the riders are getting stronger. Today was a good race right through all of the placers and has been the past few years.

Ah, the irony of people who claim disinterest in a certain race yet take the time to come on a message board and inform everyone of their said disinterest.

Any good scientists who posits a hypothesis would test said hypothesis to verify it's truth.

This year we had Cort in top 10, last year Laporte finished in the top 10. Wellens and Vermeersch, not quite climbers either, finished in the top 10 this year as well, and last year non-climbers Cosnefroy and Mohoric finished up in the top 10. As I said before the race, I don't really think the route change matter much. There's not really any difference in who finished in the top 10 on the old route compared to the new one.

The essence of racing comes down to a question of who is capable of completing a lap or course the fastest. If we, with complete, 100% certainty know the answer to said question prior to a race, there isn't much fun to be had and to me is a waste of my time.
Well, I disagree. Even if we know for certain who's gonna win (which we don't), a race can be beautiful, entertaining, and fun to watch regardless. A football or a handball game can be entertaining as well, even if it's a game for bronze and not gold or silver.

Congrats to Pog of course - regardless if you are a fan or not winning like that after a bloodied crash takes some fortitude. He has picked up 2025 where he left off 2024 - ominous. Relieved he doesn't seem to have picked up any more serious injury that might affect his season. Also kudos to Pidcock - a well deserved runner up.

Looking down the results its amazing how almost nobody finishes together in bunches at this race. But it also says a lot about physical and mental strength of Pogacar that he crashed then can regather himself to attack and take another 1'24" out of 2nd placed Pidcock.

That's fine, we all have our own reasons.

Though I do have to correct you: a football game will never be entertaining.
