Eight days before the event is supposed to take place I give this a bump. The start list is incomplete, but possible starters seem to be Alaphilippe, Fuglsang, Sagan, Valverde, Nibali, Van der Poel, Gilbert, Van Avermaet, Van Aert, Benoot, Naesen, Kwiatkowski, Pogacar, Küng, Jungels and Asgreen. I really don't know what to expect.

Movistar plans to wear a special colored shirt, and sell it for the care against corona.

Unfortunately, Valverde has the worst possible schedule in August, so he will miss both Strade and Lombardia...

It's Pogi-VdP 1-2, you heard it here first. Two escapees no one could catch. Trying to figure out David or Goliath?..think it's Dave if they take off sooner than later, but this is the way it goes..

The start of the new calendar is less than a week away now.

In the US, NBC Sports (you need the Cycling Pass) and FloBikes (you need a subscription) will be showing the race.

Schachmann was a monster last year although he punctured twice. He deserved to be in the mix. This year, he will win it.

AVV will win the women's race.

He had a puncture on the worst moment. I am still impressed how he managed to come back to the strong group ahead. That was impressiv.
I have at bit of a home bias, but nevertheless I have the feeling that Schachmann will be one of the riders hard to beat.

Vd Poel likes it hot, judging by the MTB exploits last year. No chance of yorkshire happening when it's hot either :)

still for VdP same problem as Van Aert. If any kind of top climber/puncher is there in the final i dont see him winning

I think he has the same chance as riders like Gilbert, GVA, Sagan, Kwiat, Naesen. The only ones I see better than him are Alaf, Fuglsang and Teuns if they all reach the final climb.

Kwiat & GVA are better climbers though. Gilbert and Sagan at some point in their career would have been favorites on a finish like this, but not anymore. It's going to be interesting either way. Schachmann should very likely also be a bigger competitor on that finish.

Wout van Aert ready for Strade Bianche: "I'm climbing better than ever"

But he realizes if he wants to win, he'll have to finish solo.
