I’m just going by the time. I’m aware the conditions was a factor this year. It's great that we can compare this 1 to 1 as the conditions was exactly the same.

He was not getting a spank by pogs domestiques back then but anyway he has to be better soon than what he is showing right now if he is to stand a chance against a rider who is currently winning races for fun while battered and bruisedJust like he did in 2023
He did fade badly at the end. But PN is a training race I would not read much into it. Doubtful he tapered for this race might have come off a block of hard training. More evidence needed to draw any conclusions. maybe he is sick, who knows.Interesting and he faded quite badly again in the end here.
But by attacking himself. It was a pretty short sustained effort he had to do until the finish but struggled a lot shortly after dropping Lenny.
Strange performance. Dont know what to make of it.
It was worse today. But in 2023 Pogacar wasn't going full gas until he dropped Vingegaard. Gaudu got a huge lead because they were looking to each other. It's great that we can compare this 1 to 1 as the conditions was exactly the same.
I don't agree. His attack was very weak IMHO and he never got more than 10 seconds. Even with 1 km to go, he was 7 seconds ahead and only got caught by Almeida. He didn't fade, he just wasn't good enough to create a gap (he looked over his shoulder 5 times and this a behaviour of weakness).Interesting and he faded quite badly again in the end here.

Yes, but Salvarani was still right - a strange performance. We should not draw conclusions. Who knows what happened. He seemed in a negative frame of minding reading him whingeing about the cold. Vingo never seems very good before June. July is all that matters. I'll reserve my judgement until we see him in the Dauphine.I don't agree. Jonas was quite good last year before the crash.Yes, but Salvarani was still right - a strange performance. We should not draw conclusions. Who knows what happened. And won 2023 Pais Vasco.Jonas was quite good last year before the crash.
I guess I was thinking about 2023 PN. This was prior to Pogi’s LBL crash.Jonas was quite good last year before the crash.

They looked okay in the TTT, but yeah, something is missing. I have a theory, but that is for another part of the forum.Vingegaard should be in top form in July, not now.
What happens now doesn't need to have any relevance to what happens in the Tour.
He needs to reach a very high peak in order to fight Pogacar, so maybe he starts the season slower, building towards the Tour and the Vuelta.
Visma collectively looking bad may be a concern, however. [[deleted content]]

Because they are world class TT riders. Their competition in the TT was weak.Ironically WVA and Vingegaard looked okay in Algarve's TT but not on the route stages/races (Van Aert in the classics as well).
Jonas is the leader even if in this race Matteo is a co leader. I have a hard time seeing Matteo doing what Vingegaard did if Vingegaard was wearing the yellow jersey.Pogacar would have loved these conditions as the rain master.
Will have given him a nice boost seeing his teammate grab a major victory.
Jonas looked very unimpressive but the on/off racing and cold wet effects on the body mean it is harder than normal to make any clear assessments.
I do wonder about team dynamics in Visma as Jorgensen would be entitled to be extremely hacked off by how Jonas rode that and not even come away with the win.
After seeing Almeida in the last month, I don't know if Yates will be Pogacar's last man in the train. The perfect strategy would be Almeida pacing Pogacar and suffocating all his rivals and after that a strong leadout from Yates before Pogacar's attack. However, Almeida is showing a level too high and Yates, with a Giro in his legs, may not be good enough to follow that pace.
I think he will be softpedalling in the first half of the race and it is his last chance to lead a team.Sending Yates to the giro it’s the dumbest idea. He always bad in the second grand tour in a season. Fear him being super bad in the Tour.
Luckily Visma made same mistake with Simon.
He coming to the giro to win it. And will be in top shape for sure. He is not like Pogacar that can win the giro on 90%I think he will be softpedalling in the first half of the race and it is his last chance to lead a team.
Like I said, he will be softpedalling in the Tour until Hautacam. He coming to the giro to win it. And will be in top shape for sure. He is not like Pogacar that can win the giro on 90%
What I fear is that he can’t hold that from to the Tour. Because he have no history of keeping form over that long. He always bad in the second grand tour.
Like I said, he will be softpedalling in the Tour until Hautacam.
It matters a lot. Because he can start the Tour undercooked and get himself in shape. He will not race for GC in the Tour. In fact, he only needs to be good in 5 stages in the Tour.Don't matter he still have to hold the Giro from all the way to end of the tour. I don't think he can.
