It's great that we can compare this 1 to 1 as the conditions was exactly the same.

I’m just going by the time. I’m aware the conditions was a factor this year.

He was not getting a spank by pogs domestiques back then but anyway he has to be better soon than what he is showing right now if he is to stand a chance against a rider who is currently winning races for fun while battered and bruised

He did fade badly at the end. But PN is a training race I would not read much into it. Doubtful he tapered for this race might have come off a block of hard training. More evidence needed to draw any conclusions. maybe he is sick, who knows.

It was worse today. But in 2023 Pogacar wasn't going full gas until he dropped Vingegaard. Gaudu got a huge lead because they were looking to each other.

Yes, but Salvarani was still right - a strange performance. We should not draw conclusions. Who knows what happened. He seemed in a negative frame of minding reading him whingeing about the cold. Vingo never seems very good before June. July is all that matters. I'll reserve my judgement until we see him in the Dauphine.

I'm not afraid of Jorgenson anymore. Almeida will kill him in the Tour.

I can't believe people think Jonas being in bad shape right now is sign of him losing at TdF. Remco looked terrible on Dauphine, Roglic won it, 3 weeks later on TdF.. Remco looked better than Roglic. I think Jonas just went there for training but is still good enough to win both Algarve and P-N. He will probably be better in Catalyuna. Winning those 3 races but being far from his best form is already scary. Maybe he does not want to peak too soon because he wants to ride Vuelta too.

Ironically WVA and Vingegaard looked okay in Algarve's TT but not on the route stages/races (Van Aert in the classics as well).

Because they are world class TT riders. Their competition in the TT was weak.

Will have given him a nice boost seeing his teammate grab a major victory.

I do wonder about team dynamics in Visma as Jorgensen would be entitled to be extremely hacked off by how Jonas rode that and not even come away with the win.

Jonas is the leader even if in this race Matteo is a co leader. I have a hard time seeing Matteo doing what Vingegaard did if Vingegaard was wearing the yellow jersey.

However, Almeida is showing a level too high and Yates, with a Giro in his legs, may not be good enough to follow that pace.

Sending Yates to the giro it’s the dumbest idea. He always bad in the second grand tour in a season. Fear him being super bad in the Tour.

I think he will be softpedalling in the first half of the race and it is his last chance to lead a team.

He coming to the giro to win it. And will be in top shape for sure. He is not like Pogacar that can win the giro on 90%

What I fear is that he can’t hold that from to the Tour. Because he have no history of keeping form over that long. He always bad in the second grand tour.

Don't matter he still have to hold the Giro from all the way to end of the tour. I don't think he can.

It matters a lot. Because he can start the Tour undercooked and get himself in shape. He will not race for GC in the Tour. In fact, he only needs to be good in 5 stages in the Tour.
