I’m a sucker for punishment. There was a crash. Cameras never see any of what happens in the bottleneck. MVP came out if it like in 5th position and ganna maybe 2 places behind him at all times. They drafted behind wellens when he got to the front and just waited for pogi to burn watts to get back to the frontReview positions again at the base of the cipressa. I’m too bent to do it at this moment. I’m sure mvp and ganna are in the top 10 or less
He started his sprint in the perfect moment. Ganna wasn't ready. Pog was too far behind trying to come out of Ganna's slipstream.MVDP made a great sprint, not really a "smart" sprint. Strong sprint.
No... he just sees Pog coming up with speed and realises he has to start the sprint from 250m out.Watch the overhead and see how he reacts to Pocagar's positioning
Pogacar always had a overrated sprint, even Vingegaard beat him in a sprint during the Tour France, and Vingegaard is probably one of the worst sprinters in the world.
I think dont think it was "smart".He started his sprint in the perfect moment. Ganna wasn't ready. Pog was too far behind trying to come out of Ganna's slipstream.
In my opinion that doesn't change the outcome. It was a smart sprint. And looking at the gap he created also a really strong sprint. Produced by far the best numbers.
Pogacar didn't have much left. He gave everything he had on the Cipressa and the Poggio. He was getting gapped slightly by Ganna in the sprint. Even a perfect execution wouldn't have been enough.Watch the overhead and see how he reacts to Pocagar's positioning
Don't think we'll ever reach an agreement, regardless, my point is that it's not del torro's faultNo... he just sees Pog coming up with speed and realises he has to start the sprint from 250m out.
He reacted fast and was then strong enough to hold them off. It was a great and strong sprint.
Yup. This is just another animal.Pogacar doesn't have the sprint of heavy guys. He will never have, his weight is 65 kg and he is racing against riders 10 kilos heavier. But he is by far the best sprinter against other gc riders or even in classics like GdL or LBL.
Do you really think if Del Torro did a 1km hard pull Pog wouldn't have been 15 secs faster on Cipressa?Like I said, they don't need a lot of climbers. They just need powerhorses!
Vermeersch was the missing teammate today. They just need Wellens and Narvaez to kill Cipressa.
Very difficult to say. Perfecting every small detail will also be so hard in reality to produce. A lot can just go wrong in the positioning. Too many outside factors.Do you really think if Del Torro did a 1km hard pull Pog wouldn't have been 15 secs faster on Cipressa?
He was putting MVP on the ropes in Cipressa.Yup. This is just another animal.
But that is he there to compete in a race like this. That is what is truly incredible.
What a race today.
Best edition in a long time.
No. He will always attack with 2.8km to the top.Do you really think if Del Torro did a 1km hard pull Pog wouldn't have been 15 secs faster on Cipressa?
Yup, very close but MVDP defending himself very well.He was putting MVP on the ropes in Cipressa.
Top steps of the podium were well positioned at the start of the cipressa. This was not a coincidenceHow can people blame positioning, there are 50 guys fighting to be first at the bottom of Cipressa, no way you can have a perfect 6 man train like in a Tour mountain stage. Pog seemed def pissed and that's a good thing, I want at least 5 San remo like this before he retires!
Pogi should have been on wellens wheel at all times. Ideally with Narváez and del toro. If that happens 8:40. And 25-30 seconds advantage over mvp and ganna. Their faces to the wind would have never clawed him backDo you really think if Del Torro did a 1km hard pull Pog wouldn't have been 15 secs faster on Cipressa?
The sheik has to get serious about goals of his teamNext year, they should bring Rui, Vermeersch and Politt. These 3 can help Pogi, Wellens and Narvaez to be in the front.
Having del Toro would have changed the outcome? Can he drop most of the peleton like Narvaez did? Pog had the two best riders of his team in the first 15 positions, enough to destroy a peleton of ruleur on a 5 km 4% climb. You can't ask for a better scenario in a race like san remo.Top steps of the podium were well positioned at the start of the cipressa. This was not a coincidence
