Let me type this slowly so that folks can comprehend it.

Ganna and MVP were well positioned at the base of the climb. This is because of their teams.

Because they were only concerned about keeping them in front.
Their teams wasn't concerned about 4 riders as was the case with UAE.

UAE needed to have 3 riders with Pogacar in order to set up an attack. That leaves only one rider (if the 2 responsible for the first 250km are gone).
Is it so hard for you to get it?
UAE (Del Toro) messed up, yes, but their job wasn't as easy as you claim it was.

In the end of the day MVDP was simply stronger.

Pogacar's team not good enough??

It would be like saying that the 2016 Golden State Warriors weren't very good. Hopefully UAE do not sign MVDP or Vingegaard (Durant).

He is rdiing PR and it was Pogacar who decide to race PR. So I don't understand all this talk about Pogacar not being able to race what he wants. I would prefer E3, RVV, PR, LBL but maybe Pogacar wants to win the Ardennes Treble.
However there is a chance (and I believe this could happen too) Pogacar decided to race PR and had to quit from racing E3 and GW in order to give opportunities to his teammates. The most important thing is how he decided to race PR and the team let him do what he wants.
UAE without Pogi is an average team. They can win a lot but they can't win big.

Not a surprise anymore but there's confirmation that no E3 and GW for Pogi. Wow, he's actually about to ride Roubaix this year.
I just feel E3 would be a good preparation but I prefer him to race PR.
I can't wait also to see his domestiques getting humiliated by MVP in E3. They want leadership so they must take responsability to contest or win races they demand.

I'm a little confused; how does not riding E3 and GW equal riding PR?

I'm gonna say we have the final answer regarding PR when UAE posts the lineup.
UAE told us that (rumour I must say).

Honestly, at this point I'm suspecting they're just giving us conflicting info to keep us mystified.

I mean, yeah, it's not really confirmed just yet but I just don't think Pogi would elect to skip E3 just like that if he was racing just RVV, especially since E3 is pretty much the perfect warm-up race for RVV.

I think this is the most exciting outcome. E3 and GW would have been nice but I think those races are actually harder for him to win than PR and I really want to see the best of the best racing in the monuments. Really, really excited to see what he can do there albeit slightly scared he might crash.

I honestly feel his only goal, switching E3 and PR, is to aim as quickly as possible for the full set of 5 monuments. He has LBL, Ronde, Lombardia. So he needs San Remo and Roubaix. He realized that he shouldn't wait until he's 30 to try and win Roubaix. He's in the best shape of his life so he should try as hard as possible, right now. Same for San Remo but he probably realized that one could take 5 more years and all stars aligned. If he would have won San Remo, I'm sure there would be less pressure for riding, let alone winning Roubaix. Now the pressure will be higher. It's his first try and so many things can go wrong, but he can do a Hinault and move on to the next goal. Curious to see how it will play out, but compared to San Remo and especially RVV, his chances vs. MvdP are lowest in Roubaix.

Why couldn't they announce it in December?

Even with a happy ending, too much foreplay leads to blue balls.
Maybe Pogi didn't really plan to ride it this year. Then he impulsively chose to accompany Wellens for a full recon of all the Roubaix cobbles and from there, he just wanted to begin riding it this year. Matxin and Gianetti were probably not as welcome to the idea so the discussions began from there.
