Again this talk about Yates? Can you wait for the mountains to have reliable information?
Don't blame me, it's normal to have doubts

I see three Visma riders in the top10 climb, Almeida is missing due to poor positioning, and it's understandable to question that.

The result was the best today, but the reality is that as soon as Visma took over, they dropped the entire UAE. Campenaerts' pace eliminated Wellens and put Narvaez in trouble.

In the high mountains, it will be very important to recover Adam Yates.

Pogacar did more than 9 w/kg with a chicane in the climb.

I rewatched the last 10 km and Vingegaard sprinted to not get dropped. He went completely over his limit there. I don't know if he will keep up on longer climbs.
You could see Tadej check back at how close the chasers were, and wisely not trying the descending portion alone. JV's guys would've caught on with a bit more force. Jonas was getting gapped before Tadej chilled out for a moment. That pitch looked like 20%+ from the lead camera view, too.

There's little talk about how the UAE was a disaster, and that Pogacar shone in the 2019 Vuelta as a rookie and won the 2020 Tour in a mediocre team.

UAE was on par with Total Energies in the Vuelta. A complete disaster of performance. Aru and Henao crawled the entire Vuelta.

In the 2020 Tour, only de la Cruz had any level in mountain. He was the only one against Kriswijk, Kuss, Van Aert, Doumolin... the rest were sprinters, DNFs, and mediocre performances.

I would´ve liked to see Vingegaard in such a mediocre team in a GT.
Jonas without Matteo today would've been with Roglic.

I’ll be interested to see how the ITT goes but I’ve been watching cycling enough to know that pog routinely has “bad” time trials every once in a while. Hopefully they fixed whatever problem or he just got his random bad ITT performance out of him before the tour.

The same way I think Pogacar will be mediocre in the TT because of what he showed in the Dauphine, I also think Vingegaard showed his punch once again like he showed in the Dauphine too (stage 1). The real question for Vingegaard is if he can stay on Pogacar's wheel in stage 12.

Today is the most important day to Vingegaard IMHO. He is basically screwed (IMHO) if he doesn't win time on Pogacar.
I can only see him winning in 2 ways:
1- Pogacar crashes out.
2 - Win time on the TT (more than 25 seconds) and hang on for dear life in the mountains.

pog looked so fesh after stage in comp to others, thye are cooked.everything pog does screams insane climbing is coming.its started on cipressa.yesterday same, vinge could follow on punch, but than he couldnot hold it.and that juts translates into climbing.dont care about the punch, tempo is key.

I never understood why Vingegaard isn't suited to punchy climbs because he is light. In fact being lighter is better in steep gradients
