Eh, a good question. Nothing against him ofc. But the truth is that the captain needs to be stronger or similarly to his main opponent. Otherwise, you can have even 10 domestics but if your legs aren't good...you are f××××x.
In the 2013 Contador had a much stronger team than Sky in the mountains...but Froome was on another level and Alberto was brutally beaten. A similar situation happened in the Giro 2015 with Astana vs Contador/Tinkoff

I want to expect the estimates of watts but I have the impression pog was not on Pdb level, and I don't think he beated the climbing record of hautacam. I talked a lot about the bike and I continue to say he doesn't look comfortable on that bike. To me the surprise of today was how bad vingegaard was, really bad

confirmed, he was 32 seconds slower than riis. At Pdb level he would have matched or even beaten the record. Vingegaard today was much worse than in 2024, pog a bit worse than 2024

Also UAE dominating Visma in the mountains even without Almeida..People never learn, stuck to the past, I can never wrap my head around people telling themselves things they wanne believe opposed to what we see and numbers.

Imagine what Almeida would do here, he actually woulda have a good chance to beat Vingegaard like he has previous times this year with signs. Not saying he would just its a possibility, he beat him in the TT even as well so.
