In another interview he mentions a possible burnout that could happen to him in the future. This really doesnt sound optimistic. Hope for the peleton that the Godfather/Le Patron/Tyrant will leave early?
Maybe one day Del Toro is able to contest the Tour and Pogacar receives a green light to race Giro-Vuelta.He does get asked though about burnouts and overtraining in cycling/sports. So it's not that he brought it up himself.
It might be that he's just tired now, and a bit tired of the Tour. He did say at the Dauphiné that he has to race it every year, and didn't sound to happy about it. I honestly think he should skip one.

His contract is on until 2030. He extended last year.I mean he signed an astromonomical contract the sponsors are gonna wanna get their money's worth.
UAE have been super proactive in extending his contracts way in advance, so if it runs down to say 2 years on his contract and he's still not extending maybe there's something up. Or he could just retire and abort contract by mutual agreement or have such mechanisms in his contract.
Pogacar can have kids during his cycling career. He doesn't need to retire.
I assume his girlfriend isn't ready for babies yet.Having babies and children in the house is a wonderful motivator... to ride 7 hours a day at altitude camps.
I don't think it's good but many riders do this.Having babies and children in the house is a wonderful motivator... to ride 7 hours a day at altitude camps.

Unless they are at the finish of a race and daddy wants to show them he is the hero...Having babies and children in the house is a wonderful motivator... to ride 7 hours a day at altitude camps.
I would generally be sceptical of reading too much into what an athlete says about retiring early, especially when they're exhausted or have just had a huge disappointment in their career. He said in the Dauphiné he might retire after his contract ends in 2030, and now he says he'll consider retirement 2028. If he meant that's the point when he will start considering retirement, in contrast to considering retirering at 2028 now (it's hard to know which, I can't find the actual interview, just short quotes), that would check out.
I hope he targets PR too. Such a joy to see him against MVP.He's biggest wish is to return to Paris Roubaix and win it.
He enjoys 1 day classics the most so he'll probably try to focus on that and he'll have to go for 5th Tour (sponsors, team,..). I think next year the most important two races will be Paris - Roubaix and Tour.
There's no greater motivation than winning a fifth Tour de France. Not nervous for early retirement. But I'm nervous he already talking about burnout. You need hunger and passion to win the tour..
I don't even think Del Toro will lead a GT next year. There's no greater motivation than winning a fifth Tour de France.
He'll say this now. In January 2026, he'll say that winning a fifth Tour the France will be his biggest goal. Once he achieves that, 2027 could be a good year for a Giro-Vuelta.
I'm convinced that winning a fifth Tour the France will be highly motivated for Pogacar. You have to understand that when we've just finished something, we don't reflect in the same way as when we're rested.
Next year, he'll be going to the Tour the France. Those who say Del Toro will be the leader know what they're saying? In the high-mountain stages, he was slightly inferior to Carapaz. That's not enough to win the Tour, and UAE knows it. But it will be Pogacar who decides to go for the fifth. Don't worry about that.

He doesn’t have to but Urska will have to and she isn’t ready yet. He obviously respects her choice to keep racing.Pogacar can have kids during his cycling career. He doesn't need to retire.
Hopefully a few weeks off will reload Pog's battery for WC and Lombardia.
I think the attitude of his opponents also plays a role in his feelings about the last stages. In the classics (and also yesterday) opponents like MVDP, Pedersen and WvA are always willing to ride and attack, making it a lot of fun for Pog to ride. Vingo's attitude on La Plagne (and also Loze) was really frustrating, it seemed like it was more important that Pog wouldn't win then trying to go all-in and take some risks for an own victory.
So hopefully, we will see Tadej also the coming years in MSR, Flanders and P-R.
