Pogacar is not overrated as a GT rider. Let's not make pointless statements. Just because someone is climbing better than him doesn't make his achievements a fluke.
Not saying they're a fluke by any means, but he was seen by many as an unbeatable god that would easily win the next ten Tours, after 2021. Like I said, I'm not sure he would even have beaten Roglic that year.

That was clearly an overestimation of his level

Well let's not forget that Pogacar revelation was actually in a GT, Vuelta 2019, winning over 3 mountain stages, and finishing 3rd overall.
And he was the most impressive during the mountain stages.

Unlike for example Evenepoel who has been revealed while winning classics and one day races.

What could he have done differently so far? I'm sure he'll try all kinds of things for the rest of the race, but I don't see what he could have done much differently in the first 5 stages.

Well nothing as he gave his all. But this is disappointing that he's not in better form.

And yes I agree that even a 100% Pogi is maybe not enough.

Big champion. He tends to excel when his back is against the wall.

I also knew Vingegaard often exposes himself when he goes on the attack, i.e. it's happened before & he really went way too soon today (crazy to believe they could win the Tour on the Tourmalet like that).

Jumbo will be reeling from this little spanking.

I don't think it was crazy at all to do that, rather I think it was expected after seeing the strength disparity yesterday. They could realistically end the Tour today, but Pogacar was just crazy, crazy strong.

It made perfect sense. If Vingegaard had gapped Pogacar just a few meters and caught up with Wout it would have been race over. And it's actually quite surprising how strong Pogi was today. Nobody predicted that.

If everything always works out according to plan bike racing would be very easy.

I suspected that yesterday was more of a tactical fail than Pogacar not having the legs. Turns out the rumours of his demise have been greatly exaggerated.
Could be a mix of different things. No idea to know anything for sure.

Maybe he was being very careful about how deep he went yesterday. That it would hurt more to do what Vingegaard did yesterday on those gradients, than what happened today.

Maybe he just recovered really well and had a better day today.

The race is alive!

Pogacar still doesn't give 100% confidence that he will be able to follow Vinge on Dome. If he can, madre mia, Pogi is going to win the Tour
