Teams & Riders Tadej Pogačar discussion thread

At their best, the difference between the two is way too small for one being a clear favourite over the other a year from now. Even if we assume that neither will improve, or that we re-run the tape from March, I think this year's Tour would be completely open.

Before the Tour, I thought Pogi wouldn't be able to drop Vingegaard in the mountains. Cambasque was maybe down to drafting before his attack, but Puy de Dôme and Joux Plane were both super impressive and better than what he delivered last year. So while his resounding defeat in the ITT and his crack on Loze made him seem a level below Vingegaard, I think his level this year was very encouraging all things considered.

I think both of them will improve their preparations and performances next year, but I see more upside for Pogi. So I think he'll eventually win the Tour again, it's just a question of time.
One would hope there's more upside for Pogi. He lost by 7 and a half minutes. Biggest margin since Nibali won the Tour without any real competition left in the race.

I do think that Pogi had a higher level in the first two weeks than he's ever had. Last year Vingegaard nearly beat Pogi on La Planche. This year Pogi just rode him straight off his wheel on finishes like that. But if UAE don't work on increasing his threshold, Jumbo just has to use the same tactic of slugging it out over three weeks and they'll win every time.

If Pogi is cooked, how will Vingegaard win the Vuelta?

Skeletor was only warming up in the first 2 weeks of the Tour (so redlining Teddy managed to hold on). It was easy peasy for him most of the time except the TT (when he upped the wattage a bit not believing his computer). Why would he be tired after 3 weeks of leisure rides and only 30 minutes of a stronger effort? He's a pro after all.

You didn't really posted it as an opinion to be fair.

Just saying something like "Pogacar is completely cooked" when the race is on 2 weeks after TdF and we realistically don't know how he responds is pretty stupid imo.
If I am saying and it isn't a fact how it is not my opinion? Please, show me more respect next time. I didn't offend Pogacar, in fact he is my current favourite rider and I would be delighted to see him winning the WC but on this route and specially after his underwhelming third week in the Tour, I think he doesn't have a chance at all. I hope to be wrong.

Writing "he is cooked" is not how you formulate an opinion. You state it as a fact, and that's something a lot of people do on internet forums, but that doesn't make it less lame.
