Bjerg and Pollito should be brought in for something like that, then FFB, Morgado, Del Toro take over and 20-25 people drag to Poggio and then Del Toro does 600-700 m, Wellens 2km and Pog attacks 1k from the top of Poggio, but for something like that you need to be high pace all the way from the bottom of Cipressa to the attack of Pog and that can only be done with strong machines, not Ullisi and HirschiBut seriously. What does UAE need to do to boss the peloton into the foot of the cipressa. No way pogi doesn’t keep doing this race until he wins. This will become an increasingly bigger goal of the calendar until they prevail. And this race requires a significant team commitment in spite of his talents.
Lidl did what uae must do at that specific moment. If uae does that, it tears the legs off of mvp and philipsen and anyone else like them.
I constantly suggest to my contact for Pog what to do, but Matxin does his own thing and Pog doesn't want to interfere in his work, and that's where the problem arises...Personally I would smoke two strong and well respected riders to the cipressa base and two more on the climb. And have someone strong enough to roll with pog to a decisive attack on the poggio. As each year passes, del toro could very well be that second option for a win past the poggio.
Looking back at footage at the cipressa base, EF had the most numbers at that final turn of the thread and all of the contenders were well positioned for the attacks. Pog was the worst positioned at least from what I could see and all of the uae spent a lot of energy repositioning.
Not at allOh man. You act like cycling exorcised its demons with the expulsion of this one person
If anything seems the opposite. They've got a crazy hit rate on young riders not just performing but instantly overperforming what you'd expect based on their prior year.Based on who do their riders underperform?
does Lance' 7w/k ftp aligned with his doping?😯
Lance is still so weirdly competitive in such unnecessary ways though. Bruyneel talks about the @mou numbers - and first reaction from Lance - "Well, 6.something, really good, especially for that point for the season. I would have been at 5.5 but for the Tour I was always at 7.0 FTP". I don't think there are any 7.0 W/kg long climbs on record for Lance either, right?

Probably that.Armstrong Alpe d'Huez TT was like 6.3-6.4 w/kg for 37.5 minutes. 7 w/kg of FTP is bull**it unless he thinks of some 20-minute test.
Yes, exactly. But the statement also more felt like he "needed" that for his ego. "Look, I was better than those guys today".Armstrong Alpe d'Huez TT was like 6.3-6.4 w/kg for 37.5 minutes. 7 w/kg of FTP is bull**it unless he thinks about some 20-minute test.

I think its fair that there is a monument sprinters with endurance and climbing prowess can win like Philipsen or Pedersen (although they also have a shot at PR and Ronde, I guess). So I would rather say UAE shouold bring a proper team with the likes of Bjerg and Politt to drive the pace in the low gradients and flat parts and fresh Wellens, Del Toro, ... can take over then.Milan San Remo should experiment with their route like Milano Torino did and add some more climbs. Otherwise UAE should bring a team that could push the pace all the way for an attack on Cipressa.
