His grandfather died, he has left altitude camp 3 days earlier than planned in order to be with family in Slovenia.

First off wow horrible news. How close was they? Anyway my condolences and hope it doesnt impact him to much mentally.

Tadej Pogacar lost his grandfather a few days ago. The Slovenian from UAE Team Emirates, top favorite for the upcoming Tour de France, therefore had to cancel his altitude training three earlier than expected.

Setback in the run-up to the Tour de France for Tadej Pogacar. After his victory in the Giro, the Slovenian seemed to have had a flawless preparation for the Tour, but a few days ago he received sad news during his altitude training camp in Isola 2000, France - the death of his grandfather. Pogacar rushed back to Slovenia to be with his family.

The altitude training, which started on June 3, ended three days later than expected. The preparation for the Tour was slightly disrupted in terms of training, but the death of his grandfather will probably mainly be a blow mentally.

Pogacar will soon try to become the first rider since Marco Pantani in 1998 to win the Giro and the Tour in the same season. The first part of that mission has already been completed, the second will begin on June 29 in Florence.

Im confused. Does he miss 3 days or more from the altitude camp? Cause if he left a few days ago did he miss 3 days of the original scheduled camp? but the camp was prolonged untill sunday meaning will he miss 5-6 days? Im confused what is it of those? How many days missed.

Pog was in isola 4 days ago training with ayuso&co.. yesterday urska posted a story of pogs father supporting her at the finish. pogs absence there pretty much explains he was at the thin air of isola mountains. If this cant explain, good luck!

We're not talking about the death and we will never know about it until pog speaks. What i'm saying is hlns claim of pogi ending his training camp earlier than scheduled as a blow to his preparation is fake.

I hope your right but im still confused. It just doesnt seem to be a thing to fake news about. Naturally im very curious if he missed 3 days of the altitude camp, 5-6 days or anyone at all. Wish someone could comfirm, that article seems to be to wild to joke about that something like that.

Mate, u're complicating ur life thinking too much. How can a person as famous as tadej staying in slovenia(where his grandfather lives) 3-6 days can get away without being noticed by a single person in todays social media... or was he off the bike for those days totally compromising his tdf. As every fan of pog in slovenia knows he isn't defending his national title because of the prep at altitude. Would it not rise questions if he was there on those days and isn't defending his title

People talking about a big blow and nefarious affects on hisTour, should be banned from cycling.

It used to be that the Giro in the legs fostered deep form in the Tour, but everything has so radically changed since then. Pantani started the 98 Tour decidedly off key, but then rose to insurmountable heights. Hinault started the 85 Tour flying and was strong throughout, but then Lemond, who also rode the Giro at a high level, was in the end papabile. Indurain was on top form in both GTs when he won them in the same year consecutively. So the precedents are there.

There are some underlying conditions that allowed at least two of them to maintain "form". Another reason why it is presently a difficult task.

As for Pog's grandfather, that is sad if true. But such losses can also motivate elite spokespersons. I think it would more likely be a positive rather than a negative.
