Teams & Riders Tadej Pogačar discussion thread

Not sure if this has been posted somewhere in the forum already but just saw this article in the Guardian.

A concerning quote attributed to Tom Dumoulin - copied below.

There’s definitely an element of arrogance. The rivalry between Vingegaard and Pogacar has spanned three years, and Pogacar can’t accept being beaten two years in a row. Now that he’s back in control and has the strength to challenge Vingegaard again, he’s thinking, ‘Now, I’ll get you back
Can't accept? This is a bit rich coming from the arrogance of Jumbo Visma in 2022, 2023 and 2024 up until stage 15 when they have since fallen strangely silent. This attitude doesn't come from Tom personally but certainly the team who dished out more than its share of arrogance and disrespect.

Visma and Tom just seems like sore losers.

And they are taking it hard because they are very arrogant. Thought they would win again, so it is amplified.

Armstrong point has nothing to do with Jorgenson I think. He's been adament about is previously as well. I can see where he's coming from (this is probably not the forum to discuss it), but at the same time I don't agree. But its definitely a valid argument I think to some extent.

Tadej: Let's not talk about cannibalism. That's not very nice. 🥺

You see? Pogačar is not a cannibal. Cannibals eat meat, he just eats candy.

(I'm sure he has a well-balanced diet, including meat. Just from... other animals.)

First time I watched the Armstrong podcast today. It was about Tadej, and he and Hincapie were very critical of Tadej’s move. Basically he didn’t ‘let’ an American win the stage and he’s very greedy and selfish and he ‘made a mistake’ and that don’t let them blablabla…

Armstrong's point isn't invalid, but he and George were def worked up because Pog beat their love Jorgenson. George especially.

Which is ridiculous, if Pog is going to give up the queen stage he has been targeting for months, and climbed many times, it won't be for a visma rider who was in the break initially to set up an attack for Jonas and for the team that has smashed pog 2 years running.

Johan disagrees with his ex rider Lance and George, and while they are all have a checkered past in cycling, Johan is the smartest of them.

And while I am at it, and talking about "being greedy" has the forum had collective amnesia regarding the domination of visma in 2023?

What a bunch of clowns. What has "mr. Livestrong" ever gifted to anybody? On contrary he was a cancer of peloton of the time bullying everybody (sometimes even his teammates).

lol Lance, okay.

The queens stage needs to be won by the upcoming Tour de France winner. End of story.

Pogi: "Lets stop talking about cannibalism, that's not so nice. I eat candy and gels, not human flesh."
hahaha he knows he is a cannibal he just cant help himself when he smells flesh/victory. True candy eating cannibal.

Maybe he prefer when ppl call him a sweat cannibal?

The thing is, cannibalism isn't defined by a massive appetite but for eating your own species.
Haha I know man but that's not the term in what its used in cycling. In that term he is clearly a cannibal weve seen it countless of times he has said he just cant help himself if he smells a win.

I wonder if he had let a different rider win the stage but didn't want to make gifts to Visma. People talk about "making friends in the peloton" but Visma won't become his friends anyway. If today he goes to the finish line with Remco I would predict he would gift the stage win to him, yesterday just wasn't the day to do so.

I also think that if Remco drops Jonas today, Pogi will follow his wheel and give him the stage.

I can totally see Tadej ‘gifting’ one today and then seeing Lance and co completely upset about how he ‘disrespected his opponents’ by not trying and gifting a stage win…😅

The same Lance who ridiculed podium finishers at Milano Sanremo as being too friendly.

I wonder what the storyline will be this time. Everything for the clicks and sponsor money.
