Let Vingegaard race Kuss and you'd have 2 doubles. Prevent an ambush on a silly medium mountain stage and you have 3 doubles out of how much? 4 attempts? With the other 1 being 1st and 3rd by Carlos Sastre...
Based on pure results WC double doesn't seem easier than Tour-Vuelta.
We agree to disagree. Tour+Vuelta>>>> Tour+WC double.

Vingo could have taken the lead from Kuss in the ITT but he couldn’t. The rest was hysteria as they say

That's even harder I don't see on what planet winning 3 types of races (a GT, an ITT and a hard one day race) is easier than winning 1 type - 2 GT's?

Can you point me a single rider capable of doing that triple in the last 30 years? As far as the GT's doubles go, every dominant GT rider could do Tour-Vuelta. So if you ignore actual facts (as number of riders done a certain achievement) what logic you base your point on?

You're right, Tour-Vuelta is not too hard but I find it harder than WC double. Giro-Tour is another thing. And for a rider like Pogacar Tour-Vuelta should be more important because he is missing Vuelta in his palmares and he can still be competitive in WC RR after Tour-Vuelta. I don't rate WC TT very high. No one will ever say Tony Martin was one of the best riders of his generation just because he was the best time triallist. I don't have any doubt Merckx would win WC double, Hinault too.

At first I was thinking like you - Vuelta win is more important. However, while I agree that a Vuelta win will do more to his palmares than a WC ITT, TdF + WC double is something you're unlikely to see in the next 30(?) years.
As hard as TdF+Vuelta double is, Indurain, Contador, Froome and Vingegaard (I mean..even Roglic was 1 minute away from doing it) were capable of doing it and then you can add every cycling great from the past. I have no doubts that the next dominant GT rider (being Pablo Torres, Jarno Widar, Jørgen Nordhagen or some name we haven't heard yet) will be able to do it as well.

TdF + WC double (+Lombardia) is a feat only the true GOATs (as you put Merckx and Hinault) can achieve.

Lemond could do it too. In the specialization era, no one and here you are right. So it's difficult too to win Tour+double WC

He was closer but he was not a good one day racer (compared to his level in GTs)
The question was who could win the tour AND wc rr + itt in the last 30 years. It was indeed indurain. He came very close to it.

Armstrong too but he didn’t emphasize it on his schedule. Bruyneel rules of the tour and nothing else thwarted any serious effort

Yes, only Indurain was close to do it.

I wonder what Pogi boy end up deciding to race next year..His schedule apart from MSR he gonne be fav for every single race unless he crash, and if he is close to 24 level well weve seen its not close even but I suspect he will just get better.

3 Year rules applies to Pogacar just as it does other atheletes with new trainer/methods. Imagine Pogacar 2026 if that is the case here too:tearsofjoy:

Stage 18 will be hard for him. I hope he gets his revenge there since he lost the 2022 and 2023 Tours on Glandon and Loze respectively
