Riding a local race (Slo nationals are a very small event in cycling world) just before TdF is risky. There are many a lot less experienced riders, who are very eager to race, prone to accidents, etc. It's just not worth doing it 2 weeks from TdF.

He is announced for his Komenda home race but it just seems strange to me to do that and not the championships. Everyone will want autographs and pictures at his race.
But he seems to be in Monaco enjoying his Porsche at the moment so lets see what his plans are
If I were him I would stay in Monaco until he needs to go to Denmark.

I've pointed this out before: the hairs represent subtle but unique vortex generators that lessen the air suction behind the helmet. The number and length of hairs protruding are carefully monitored by a team of aerodynamic specialists. The tongue is clearly the second stage intake of the turbo. Don't ya know nuthin?

He didn't defend his national champs ITT title today. But his girlfriend is now the womens ITT national champ. I guess the jersey stays "in the family".

He would have been hard pressed defending a title he didn't have.
It was in 2020 he was national champion.

True, I did Jan Tratnik a disservice. Thafully he won it again this year. It was a mountain TT this year, which Pog would probably blitz if he competed

This isn't the profile of this year's ITT. It wasn't a mountain TT but it was very hilly with around 500m of vertical gain in 29km. He visited the Prologo saddle factory in Italy and got a new vespa and and a new custom sadddle.
So that's where Pogi finds additional watts for the Tour. Should be enough!

Given the stature of the man, it seems curious that this thread doesn't get a commensurate number of posts. Is it because he is less popular than say Contador or Froome were in their primes? Even on the eve of the Tour, it's been quiet here over the last couple of days.

Popularity doesn't directly relate to accomplsihments, and especially thread size.
There's just no handful of posters talking about every bit of Pog news that comse out. Contadors thread didn't start because of achievement, it started pretty soon after he got banned, and it was originally called "I LOVE ALBERTO". He had a very big pro and anti circlejerk going on.
Who's the most controversial rider now? Evenepoel. And it shows in the thread size.
