I dont think vingegaard wins any tour if pogacar isnt hurt. Has he ever done it? Dont think its even close.

What does people here think about Carlos Rodriguez this year? Hes actually from the same city as me. Hes already shown high potential and naturaly to think he will become stronger too duo to his age. Curious about his development this year.

Pog wasn't hurt in 2022. And Pog wasn't even close to beating him, let alone last year. So a full form Pog doesn't beat Vingegaard easily. You are being ridiculous.

It's just wishfull thinking. Pogacar tried everything to drop Vingegaard in the Tour 2022 after the stage of Granon and he couldn't.

He tried on Alpe d'huez, Mende, Azet, peyresourde, spandelles, and he never could drop him.

I thought Slovenia wasn't Balkan (proper).
Glad you asked :)

Slovenia is geographically considered partly Balkans. The Southern part is geographically on the Balkan peninsula and the northern part isn't.

Culturally, it's another question and as another poster mentioned - Hornet's nest. The only time I almost got banned here was debating the historically inaccurate claim that Slovenia was behind the iron curtain... Long story short, some of my compatriots are sensitive about being associated with the Balkans. I personally don't care about that. I do care about distorting historical facts using the powers of ignorance...

But here's Zizek's take on this:

While Yugoslavia was non-aligned, it makes somewhat sense from a purely western perspective to group it with the other European socialist states. But granted, iron curtain is not the best term for the one half of the bifurcated Cold War Europe. Similarly, it can make sense to group the neutral countries with the West.

I dont with all due respect think its wishfull thinking at all, on contrary the opposite. Vingegaard wasnt even the captain on jumbo that year if im not mistaken pog burned his matches on roglic.

In fact wasnt last time vingegaard faces pogacar which wasnt hurt 2021 and i do remember he beat him easily. How is that wishfull thinking hehe?

I dont actually mind vingegaard for pog to be honest hes not actually a treath i think thats more a few fans who reach in all honesty more than anything else.

im in all honesty more worried about Van der Poel for pogacar in the monuments no top form mvdp has a incredible lvl and the hardest opponent for pogacar (certain circuits) Lombardia curcuits its no contest ofc but yeah in pogacar quest i do worrie about Van der poel the most hes the guy who actually can beat him in certain races(maby) he wanne win.

Its about managing ur efforts in the preceding GT. We can take nairo for ex in 2016 tour he was under performing at the tour finishing 3rd and then won the vuelta against froome in what was his best grand tour performance. In 2018 tom doumulin was good at the giro finishing 2nd and at the tour he was even better. So if pog and his management are smart enough they could stop being aggressive after 1st rest day with 3+min advantage at the giro and no team would pull with pogi in the wheel. Its boring for us fans but a giro tour blessing for pogi
I feel you and i think your right to many degree. (but is that in pogacar nature tho, he is a cannibal)

Only thing is giro tour is different world vs tour vuelta. I remember contador how superior he was and he couldnt even stand a chance, his level dipped so much and it was all due to body dont have proper time to recover and then build a new high again.

So regardless he wont be 100% at the tour anyway but its like you say about beeing as good as possible can and in there lies the question i think how good he can be in giro tour double in the tour.

Remains to be seen what level he can muster after giro in that little time and how reduced he is i do think he can win the tour at 95 and 90% if he dont fatigue to much last week which i doubt with this schedule or how much it cost with giro which for us i guess is imopssible to reallyknow for mortal professinoal a GC in any Gt takes everything so for pogacar its hard to say but regardless it has to cost atleast something to what degree i have no idea and i guess remains to be seen. (unless injuries etc which throw it all out obvious)

Sure, culturally and economically, Yugoslavia had much more in common with eastern bloc than with Western Europe and I could understand why anyone would automatically assume it was “behind the iron curtain”. It was the manner of the debate that was the problem…

Ya but u cant compare contadors giro tour double with others. He was pushed to his limits by astana at the giro where he was at risk of loosing it on the final mountain stage.

Yugoslavia was more like a mesh curtain . . . I was able to enter and ride through it (as far as Dubrovnik) with a U.S. passport in 1981–I certainly couldn’t do that in any country behind the iron curtain at that time.
