Teams & Riders Tadej Pogačar discussion thread

The complaint was not about how they race, but about their pathetic begging to be handed gifts. No gifts, please. If you don’t like that, race for it.
Did it look like it was gifted to you?

It's the sort of throwaway comment people will just make in the peloton. How often have we not heard of riders asking to slow down in a way that it's more of a statement of them going hard rather than an actual request to slow down. And it's not like upfront communications about intentions never happens. Like Van Aert trying to convince Pog he wanted to go in the break for the stage win on Luz Ardiden in '21.

And besides, if they were really begging that hard, it'd be a bit weak of Pogacar to give in wouldn't it?

Reading some of Teddy's recent comments.

Tiberi is the only rider that so far showed some balls

In my opinion, it would have been better just to go how we wanted to the finish, but sometimes there’s too many people in the peloton saying that we need to share a piece of pie.

What a f**king legend!
Hahaha did he really say that? Love the drama, good of the peleton to start bitching about UAE but als good of him to throw these GC riders under the bus.

Somewhat. I think they had the strength to pull in the break, but they very quickly gave them a lot of time and then just waited for others to take over. So maybe the team was on a bad day, maybe they decided to save energy once they knew who was in the group, or maybe they decided to gift it.

I didn't follow this properly anymore, but how come Pogacar can wear shorts that don't match the jersey? Thought UCI first made an issue of this. It's OK now? Makes sense btw, it's a stupid rule
A couple of days after that news came out, UCI eventually gave the green light for Pogacar to wear the pink-ciclamino skinsuit combo. That’s why Pogacar wore that during the TT and also today. I agree it was stupid of UCI to make that a big deal in the first place.

Hearing the rumours about UAE telling Poga to ease off to give other teams a chance to win is lowkey killing the excitement I had for the remainder of this giro.
If this means Pogacar can win this Giro and still leaves himself with adequate reserves to be competitive at the Tour deep into the 3rd week then so be it.

For me the excitement of seeing someone achieve the Giro/TdF double for the first time in 26 years exceeds what happens this Giro.

But I think the lack of genuine competition is the biggest killer of excitement this Giro . That’s not UAE’s or Pogacar’s fault.
