Indeed. Several riders will puncture. I saw that Tour de femmes stage. No way a rider will be helped within minutes. Maybe a teammate can give a wheel or even his bike. But anyway, if one of the GC-contenders gets a flat tire on one of the gravel strips, his GC-ambitions will be gone. That cannot be the intention of the organizers ASO.

Maybe that's exactly where Pogi has an advantage in 2 ways:
1. He is superbly "lucky" in avoiding punctures&crashes
2. Even if he punctures, he's the best rider to be able to catch up, provided he has a mate with a bike or a wheel.

It was like on Passo Foscagno. Between 6.7 and 6.9 w/kg in the last 13 minutes....it doesn't make sense just taking a subsplit of a bigger climb.
It was 6/6.1 w/kg in 35 minutes. The whole climb should be considered, not just the last 13 minutes.
If the first part of the climb is in slow pace, obviously the rider (whatever rider is) is more fresh to push more power in the last kilometres of the climb.

Obviously the altitude impact the perfomance, but not in the same way for every rider.

Angliru is the perfect climb for these kind of numbers. It is steep, low altitude and is usually paced hard just as it was last year. Short and not very hard stage before Angliru also helped.

Now instead of here to get inside information from @mou first, we just listen to johan bruyneel for the same information (from mou). Today’s scripture from @mou is to look at pogis energy expenditure efficiency compared to competitors. 3600 calories expended stage 5 by Jorgensen, 2600 by ramco, 1600 by pogi.

One of the UAE mechanics spoke for the Slovenian TV and said that his TT bike is more aero and almost 1,5kg lighter. He said that based on the calculations they did he'd be another 40sec faster than Ganna on that ITT that he won.

40s with the new bike. And the old bike was already 30s faster than the previous one. Then there is Pogi's new training regime, detract another 30s. New socks, 5s. New helmet, 30 seconds. Better nutrition, 25 seconds... Soon they'll be going back in time.
Same with Visma's new helmets. You have to wonder how good the other guy's helmets are, because since Visma has been using those helmets, they have been left in the dust by my grandma on her tricycle.
