In terms of what pogi could do at P-R I look at a few things. Some here like to talk about weight and even mou speaks of weight a bit in relationship to performance. I’ve seen some pros suggest weight might not be prohibitively to pogi being competitive if not dominate.
But look at the gravel stage of the tour last year. If it were a one day race could anyone seriously hang with pogi and all of his cards on the table? Vingo had to use some watts with Jorgensen in front of him to stay on terms. Gravel = cobbles? I get it but power is power.
Also, Hinault and even lemond did well in P-R compared to so called heavier guys. Specialists have t really tried in the modern era. Look at pidcock at P-R; not terrible in relationship to his typical performances

Exactly.
Pogi can win Paris - Roubaix without any problem, just watch him destroying everybody (except Stuyven) on cobble stage in TdF 2022. If Van Aert wouldn’t be there for Vingegaard Pogi could’ve gain more than minute on that stage on peleton.

I think people have to keep that Tour stage in perspective. A stage of the Tour is raced very differently than a one day Classic. You don't have a bunch of Classics' specialists training and peaking, like you would for PR.

I would suggest there are riders in squads specifically prepared to race that stage full gas to save their GC rider’s tour. We’ve mentioned a couple just in these replies.

And other squads who marked out that stage for a specialist to win. A tour stage is no small matter on a riders/squad’s calendar

It’s not as though Pogacar was peaking for classics type efforts at that time as his training would have been focused on 25-45 minute climbing performances.

I’m not going to predict whether he does PR or the Vuelta. But in my opinion, at this stage of his career PR is very risky. Of all the monuments surely PR is the biggest risk of crashing and throwing away his TdF chances?

Best to attempt PR in a few years when he has already ticked a few more Tour and minor grand tour boxes.

Tratnik was probably chosen just to give his bike in stage 9 to Vingegaard lol

Stuyven stayed with him and his best result in PR is 4th. That's probably the limit of what he can do in Roubaix unless he trains for it specifically

My takes to 2025:
He will not win MSR, not even close to win to be more precise.
He will destroy MVP in RVV after not being able to drop him in E3.
No PR
Easy win in AGR, FW and LBL
Easy win in Dauphiné against Vingegaard
Huge battle in the Tour against Vingegaard. He will win by a couple of minutes, the first TT will be a huge win for Pogacar because Vingegaard will need to attack and drop Pogacar, he will not be successful though.
Rest (unfortunately he will not race the Vuelta according to our cycling prophet).
WC double (a 105 km solo in the road race).
Another demolition in Lombardia.

I don’t think that is greatly relevant as dropping Stuyven was not needed then or even particularly desirable as having someone strong to take some pulls was helpful to keeping a gap to other GC riders.

I agree with almost everything but you forgot UAE Tour and Strade Bianche.
