No prizes to anyone who has been a long term Forumite for knowing flat stages are always whinged about here. So when we get the first rider since Merckx capable of making flat stages interesting we still whinge . Hilarious.
It is absolute cult level of thinking to think that only Pogacar could go in a breakaway or that this stage was interesting.

Good thing we weren't following cycling in 1970. Personally I don't care if it was Pog, Roglic or whoever. So a flat stage controlled by the sprinters teams would have been better? Something happened and sprinters still won. Be happy.

As I stated, anyone who has been in the forum for very long knows if this didn't happen everyone would whinge.

I will believe in San Milan again if Ayuso is able to fight for the GC win in the Giro.
Mate, they are not like dumb they are doctors. Even us ordinary guys we would learn from what was good and bad and try to implement the best one. Sola has done his job with introducing the new training method and it worked so every coach in the team will implement his strategy and thats what happened this winter & why we've seen improvements from multiple uae guys who have different coaches.

Long solo's where the race is instantly over aren't great racing, and breakaways like to day have 0 added value to the race than circlejerk and that one dopamine hit of "omg he's in the break". It was never going anywhere.
Wasnt you a Contador enjoyer? Im sure you can get why people like riders who ride offensively and with their hearth to some degree?

Did it make sense, no. Was it ever gonne lead to anything this stage, obviously no. So I dont get the buzz at all. But this is hardly new stuff, the guy sprints in finishes vs sprinters the day before important mountain stages in the Tour, from a logical standpooint also make no sense, he is just one of a kind and wanne have fun. This was hardly trivial stuff most likely to just put in some traning whats the buzz.

vinge looked like remco at tour.wtf was that attack.:tearsofjoy:
Ive said before I believe Vingegaard is likely more tapped than many other riders simply from a biological standpoint. Also applies to Roglic but cause of his age, goes without saying. And if you cant improve drastically each year and got more to go on, in this age of cycling where riders improves so much each year, your getting left in the dust really fast, applies for everyone else aswell. You got tons of examples of this in cycling today.

But this wasnt any proof of that though, not at all. Its very early days and to Jonas and Roglic defense it was their first race of the season which I think may matter here(idk but likely). But its slightly worrying from their standpoint still, imo even their base levels should deal with Almeida which is not peaking the slightest at all either, especially since both Red-Bull and Visma both pulled all day and obviously thought they could win and wanted/tried to win the stage. Also its not like Almeida alter his form trajectory which happen to have more or less same schedule so no matter how you spin it, its not ideal but hardly end of the world either.

Its very early days still and way to early to conclude anything of the sorts for me, but its a worrisome sign for them, not much else yet. With a few more race days in their legs already they can both turn out to be drastically better in the TT which then again everything of this would explain itself, if not I would be more worried for them but not now. Lets see, early early days.

Had no idea the fraud coached Christen, hilarious scenes as he's cooking at the moment.

Maybe has has discovered the the special secret, doing training in hot weather and training behind a motorcycle.

Looking forward to seeing what Ayuso does now, can't wait to see him in action.
San Milan’s name is popping back up again lately in sports science media but in the actual research community it seems like he’s done with. Last I checked his lab was shut down and hasn’t been moved to a new university or institute .

Interestingly just this week I heard his named on 2 ultra running podcasts and on a breakdown of Alex Hutchinson New York Times article on zone 2.

Ultra running is going through a carbohydrate/zone 2 revolution and he’s so heavily intrenched in that narrative he comes up first.

I did hear a podcast claim that he is not only the zone 2 guy but one of the most early proponents of high carb fueling which is kind of wild 🫣😅😂
