It was always a question mark because of how close the end of the Vuelta is to the Worlds. It also looks like he also wants to go for the WC ITT title and doing the Vuelta hurts his chances for that. It's not always certain that the Worlds course suits Pogi while he can always go to the Vuelta every year as the favorite for the win. But as you said, unlucky things can happen and he should try to complete the GT collection while he's in his prime but in the end, it all goes down to what he prioritizes more. Maybe he'll still go for the Tour-Vuelta-Worlds if he feels good.
2026 will be in Montreal. It is almost certain, it will be a course made for Pogacar.
Rumours say 2027 WC will be in Sallanches. Another course (probably) suited to him.
2028 will have Olympics in LA which means less rest for the Vuelta.
So only in 2029 will he target the Vuelta?
I don't agree at all.

I was like "Surely he can get 100 this spring" but then I realized that even if he won every planned race this spring, including MSR, E3, GW, he'll only go to 99.

He will still ride Dauphiné, so June might be a better guess than July
Also, this is assuming he doesn't clean up the next three sprint stages ;)

I don't expect him to get more than 5 wins after UAE Tour. So 96 wins before Dauphiné.

Even yesterday I had goosebumps in Lagos. Seeing Roglic and Vingegaard in those narrow roads full of riders. Perfect for a disaster!

Yes, not good news for everyone else. I know Vingegaard didn't make a altitude training (he always does one in January/Fabruary). Maybe this is the reason for him to be this bad. Roglic is washed and he has been regressing since his 2023 season

We are in February but I must say I'm very disappointed with his performance. I was sure that Vingegaard could drop everyone bar Roglic easily even if he isn't in great shape (but others also aren't in peak shape).
Let's see how he performs in PN. I expect him to be a lot better, it would be a disaster if he wasn't good enough again. I want to see a great battle in the Tour.

UAE were already pretty dominant last year... and to be honest, Pogacar didn't look that great on the climb yesterday. For his standards at least. So far it just seems like Visma have regressed even further, which isn't surprising considering they've lost a few very important people in management.

Pogacar didn't look that great because he didn't care. He was just waiting for the sprint and it was very easy for him. I think it is impossible to assess anything.

Were not this dominant on the big races apart from pogi but in small races they were. But apart from the trolling this is the first race for ving and rogla so it may be a shock to their body but still finishing behind morgado is unacceptable for guys who are expected to compete with a 🐐

“Tadej is my hero. I like his riding style; it impresses me. It’s like how I want to ride races: not to sit back and defend the jersey, but to attack, to make bigger gaps, to start the race with 100km to go – that’s what I want to do. But in the end, I don’t want to copy him. He is Tadej. I am Jan.”
I feel sorry for Christen and Morgado. How will they have a chance to compete in monuments with TP in the team.

You cannot read too much re Vigne form from today’s stage. As for Pog hope he gets through these next few stages unscathed and is good to go for Strade

The cycling podcast discussed the difference between Pog and Jonas’ aims and schedules for the year which was quite interesting.

Their take was that basically everything for Jonas this year is surrounding the Tour while Pog has multiple goals for the year. Interesting their discussion on tour prep basically highlights Pog is only doing 2 stage races before the tour; UAE and Dauphine but with quite a lot of one day racing. Jonas on the other hand is doing 4 stage races and altitude in between.

They weren’t saying either way was correct or incorrect but jus noticing how different their prep is.
