Teams & Riders Tadej Pogačar discussion thread

2023 is a good benchmark. MVP dropped Pogi in MSR and then he got dropped in RVV.
This year, MVP sucked Pogacar's wheel all the way and he wasn't able to drop Pogacar. The level Pogacar showed in MSR, it should give people a idea what will happen tomorrow.
lol what? He didn’t suck his wheel all the way. He took over a lot of times. [content deleted]

It would be important to test MVP on Kwaremont. This is the only reason I think should have done E3.
Recovery isn't a problem for Pogacar. He can definitely recover better than MVP.
Pogacar's recovery abilities must be off the charts. He's had 2 bad days that I can recall, both in the Tour, and I'll give him a pass for one. But if he's in a race he's going to be on the attack and most likely winning. Even mvdp will shut it down if he's not going to compete for the win, or do a few "training races."

Vermeersch said Kwaremont is where the race will be decided and where Pogacar will attack.
I don't get why they are always saying where they will attack. It is beyond stupid.

Hardly takes a rocket scientist to work out where Pog will attack.

These online polls are a bit of fun but barring a crash impossible to see anyone other than MvP or Pog winning Flanders.

You're right but one thing is someone expecting you will attack in Kwaremont, other thing is you tell them where you will attack. It is stupid.

Telling where he would attack makes a difference only if the planned attack is on a different place than anyone anticipates.
Everyone and their mother knows that he will attack on Kwaremont, so Vermeersch saying that is like sharing a public secret. Changes nothing. Nothing stupid as well.

Besides, I honestly doubt that teams would seriously go with what they hear in these interviews.

But seriously, you understand mvp owes that win to pogi? 2024 mvp couldn’t force the selection himself and it was all he had to cover the attacks. It’s better to just hang in pogis wheel while pogi dictates the race. Profit later

No, I don't understand that. Because last year MVDP wasn't as good as he was this year, he said this himself. He doesn't need Pogi to win MSR, it helps though.

There is also Koppenberg to be honest.

Head and shoulders above the rest? That's just stupid. Everyone knows that Pog is a serious challanger to MVDP, maybe even the favorite.

But it's interesting that Boonen mentions MSR. Clearly he sees something in fact that MVDP could follow Pog's vicious attacks that bodes well for Ronde. If he is right I don't know, but it sure was impressive of MVDP to follow Pog given that every other rider weren't even close to do it.

If he is head and shoulders above Pogacar, then MVP can drop Pogacar wherever he wants.

Kwaremont is the best place to attack MVP so Pogi would try it anyway (with or without success, time will tell). I think it's good that Pogacar had a weekend without a race, mental rest is important as well and for him cobbles are not the end of the road season (like for MVP basically), he has a lot of goals ahead.
