Remco's barely been racing. Realistically this comparison is so dated as to be irrelevant. The question more to the point is which rider will challenge him? I'd like to think Roglic will hit his best level, hopefully. It's doubtful that would be enough unless race mishaps occur that benefit him. Vingo, too.
Remco's future peak GT identity might be confirmed two (+) years from now.

Well, on this route Pogacar has only one real challenger - Evenepoel.
And, according to many people in this thread, he is well out of his league, so Tour+Vuelta+WC without competitors in his league shouldn't be a problem, if a mere mortal was able to do it.

Yea there are very good chances he will unless he gets injured.
He will start his GT preparation with a higher base level than last year. So he should be able to push the limits even further.
But and I dont think it will be the case but everything is possible right... PR and Flanders took a toll physically and mentally and it will hinder his preparation for July.
But I really doubt it, even an easy Giro is still physically and mentally more taxing than 2 days of race.

He is if the race is based only on sheer power. However, Slovenia can't control a race like WC. Who is gonna follow Nys or WVA or Eetvelt if they attack with 120 km to go?
You put Remco against Pogacar in a race of just sheer power and you see the result (GdL 2024).

The course is well suited for Pogi though. He can just follow, and attack on the Mont Kigali. Even if it is still a group behind there are enough verticals all along for Pogi to power through.

Kigali is 105 km away from the finish. It is almost impossible to do a solo from there and the reason why he attacked in Zurich with 101 km to go is because he knew his team wasn't strong enough to maintain a gap of 2-3 minutes to a strong break.
If every nation works against Pogacar, he will not win the race. In monuments like LBL or GdL, UAE can control the race even if everyone works against them because they have strong riders, able to keep the race away from a tactical war.

I don't know (can't any young rider good enough to be relevant in the WT) but his team is really weak. I'm almost sure he will try to rip the peloton with 100 km to go again in Kigali.

Pogacar finished second in Roubaix without team, making the race hard 100 km to go.
He could´ve gone to Roubaix alone and there would´ve been no difference. He was alone the whole race.
That's what he'll have to do in Rwanda to ensure Remco and others arrive without many teammates.

This year, Tratnik was able to help him somewhat. In other years, he'll need help from someone, someone to slow down rivals from behind, as Van Aert did for Belgium in Paris with Van der Poel, give him some rest in front like Tratnik, or simply close the gap on a moment.
He won't be able to win alone so many World Cups against Belgium, France, and the Netherlands .
Not even Merckx, in an era with less information and when Belgium was infinitely superior to the rest, could´ve done it.

Roubaix was totally different scenario, nothing in common. And it was Van Der Poel who destroyed the group with his vicious attack after Arenberg.
And for the record, he was not alone. Pedersen, Van Der Poel, Philipsen and Bisseger worked with him.
If he's left all alone at 100 km to go, it will be very hard to hold a group, IF the group works together.
C'mon seriously? Who is gonna follow Nys or WVa...? Like Roglic doesn't exist? Roglic is also 3rd favourite on this route. Tratnik, Novak and Mohoric are also good enough helpers. Last year route was not really for Roglic and he wasn't really in good shape after Vuelta(this is also the reason why i don't think its good idea to go TdF-Vuelta-WC-GdL even for Pogi). Slovenia never had and will never have better team that this, so if not now on this route,this year,then where and when?

The 2027 WC Haute Route apparently has 5,700 meters of elevation, poor souls. Pog is gonna do whatever he wants. They should’ve made it more like an RVV-style route; at least there would be some kind of excitement.

finally pog has an all round bike with a similar weight to those of his main competitors. Let's hope it's also comparable in terms of aero capabilities. For reference the V4rs frame weight was more than 100 gr higher than a tarmac sl8 and the v4rs also tested very bad in the wind tunnel at 45 km/h. Now they have reduced the weight of the frame by 113 gr and the weight of the fork by 33 gr. Now in terms of weight the bike is comparable to a tarmac sl8 (which is considered the best all rounder). They also claim good aero improvements but for that one should wait independent tests

The incredible thing is that De Vlaeminck was in the top 10. At that time, cyclists were strongest in all routes nad moved out of their comfort zones; out of necessity, they were more complete and achieved decent results on routes that weren't suitable for them.
I can't imagine Van der Poel, Pedersen, and even less Philipsen, making the top 10 in a world championship like this. Only Van Aert in 2022-23.
Compared to Boonen and Van der Poel, De Vlaeminck was a monster capable of finishing to 10 in a world championship with over 6,000 meters of elevation gain. Insane
