Remco does it in Liège 2022: the new Merckx

Pogacar does it

I might consider it an opinion if those same people hadn't changed their minds drastically depending on the protagonist's flag.

The same thing happens with some Dutch. VDP dominates Roubaix by 3 minutes: the new De Vlaeminck, the historic rider. Others do it in other races and change perceptions.

But some accounts selling Remco as the new Megcks is the most hypocritical thing there is. They know how Eddy dominated, and they wanted that with Remco. Now that someone else is doing it, they don't like that way of winning.

This is the hard truth. Their "golden boy" is a "trashen boy" against Pogacar. And they will cry even more in the Tour when they see their "golden boy" losing consistently 1 and half minutes in every MTF

The level of projection is more than a cinema.

I don't think Remco is overrated.
He's one of the best in the world, but his lack of dominance affects him. In Zurich, he ended up unhinged, but he could've finished on the podium. He was seen arguing with Jorgenson, losing concentration.
Pogacar doesn't win San Remco or Roubaix, but he doesn't lose his temper so easily.

I think, as incredible as it may seem, Pogacar is underrated. Some are still in denial.

The other day I read a comment that VDP is the best at De Ronde. To this day, they still refuse to say that Pogacar is the best at Flanders.
In Liège, they had the excuse that Pogacar hasn't competed against Remco, but in Lombardy, the difference has always been very clear, and they still don't admit that Pogacar is the best long-distance rider. And the tougher the race, the better he is at that distance. Well, they tell you he's weak because after the PR, he felt the consequences one day

Vingegaard already showed he can compete mano a mano with Pogacar, multiple times. On the other hand, only belgian fans put Remco in the same boat with Pogacar. Ah, and another portuguese user but yeah... Pogacar is unbeatable in hilly classics when he is in peak shape.
If he does the Vuelta, Remco might have a chance in Kigali.
Vinge is damn good, don't get me wrong, but Pog took a step up last year and he seems even stronger this year, especially regarding attacking hard on steep sections. If Vinge can reach Pog's level in the tour I will be surprised. And even if he can I don't know how he actually wins over Pog. Gaining time on itt? Nah. Distancing Pog on hard mounting stags with long climbs at high altitude? Nah.

Sorry, I don't see it. I hope I'm wrong otherwise the Tour will be boring as hell.

Don't worry, in 5 years it is very possible Teddy will have 5 RVV and will put MVP, Cancellara, Boonen and Merckx in their place.

While you're right that Pogi took a step up last year, it's important to remember that Vingegaard probably wasn't at 100%. I don't see how he could have been, to be honest, given the awful Basque Country crash. So I think we could get a very close battle between them if they both come into the Tour at 100%.
