What do you mean? He will have more losses in the future as well. This doesn't mean he is fine with getting beaten. He is not del Toro. He has the character of a champion.

When he has 3 already, he doesn't want anymore this season. That's what I mean, I agree with you.

I can’t see Pog winning the TT - it is not at end of a GT and whereas he could take some time on the climb it is highly doubtful it will be anything like enough than time a fresh Remco will gain on the flat part of the course

He can make an upset. I wouldn't be shocked if he beat Remco however I think Remco will beat him by a 10s margin.

I had a doubt about the technical choices of pog and vingegaard for the mountain TT in the tour, especially because there's a flat part at the beginning and the gradients in the climb are not extreme. There's a yt video of vingegaard training, and it seems like he's using the new cervelo S5 but with TT handlebars. I believe he will use this setup in the tt (so road bike but with TT handlebars) at the tour while pog will use his road bike (v5rs) with no tt handlebars. IMO vingegaard is preparing specifically to do a huge performance in that stage, trying to do almost all the climb in a TT position despite the gradients. I have the impression pog will need to arrive at the tour in exceptional form, even better than '24, because vingegaard will show a crazy level in the tour

Jonas prepares the Tour very differently in Sierra Nevada. Pogacar does 18 days only (even if he came back for another 7 days block). I think Vingegaard will be the full month on Sierra.

in the end pog will also do almost one month, he did 18 days, one week in monaco/recons and now another week in sierra

I don't think he did any recon when he was in Monaco.

Oh god really? I'm going to watch in person and I don't want to spend all day stressing about bike choices the way I did in 2023 over bike change/ no bike change.

I believe it will be like these, pog is almost surely going to do it on the road bike, he was seen doing the recon on the v5rs. Which bike setup do think Remco will use? His golden TT bike?

Yes, he did recon of both ITT, days 20 and 21 as mou said. Then he went home for a F1 weekend.

bike change would make zero sense, there are less than 3 KMs of flat

I'm not a fan, but UAE only had Almeida doing the Giro-Vuelta double in his 3rd season doing GTs, at 24yo. I'd be surprised they had in mind sending Del Toro to the Vuelta this year.
Pog is a different beast and Ayuso lives in a different context, but UAE don't seem to rush sending their leaders to two GTs per season.

Gianetti has said that Del Toro won't be going because the Vuelta team has been decided and Del Toro is too young to do two GTs.
But the Vuelta team is always changes. For more than a year, they said that Pogacar might be going, but in the end, he didn't.

In any ccase, Del Toro is too young to do two GTs in one year. He won't go regardless of whether Pogacar goes or not.

He went down in altitude, and spent a couple of days in France before going to Monaco to watch F1.

Based on what I've seen for contenders so far this year I would place him at a secure #1; barring mishaps.
The podium rest:
2. Jorgenson/Vindegaard- Jorgenson is likely to be more versatile but neither has raced in awhile. Either way one of those 2 will be on the top 2 steps
3. Evenpoel. He may do well in specific stages but he hasn't raced enough to draw a hard conclusion. His team is definitely #3 on the support level.
4. Bora or Ineos rider.

Vuelta is the most suited GT to Del Toro. He could win if Vingegaard wasn't there.

If Vingegaard is beaten by his own teammate, he will lose the Tour for sure.

Stage 7 will be very interesting and very dangerous for Pogacar. I think he will be in yellow but Visma will destroy everyone in stage 7 so Pogacar will be alone with more than 50 km to the finish.

I think this is recency bias - Vingegaard had that awful crash last year, then a ropey start to 2025. But he knows how to peak for the Tour. I just don't believe there is any chance he will be beaten by Jorgensen, of all people. He'll be fighting with Pogacar for the win, I'm pretty sure.
