First 3-4 km on road bikes will produce minor differences. Then there are 7 km at 8.5%. Pretty much w/kg battle and the best climber will win. The first TT is when setup/position/etc matter and Pogi may lose time then.

They will not use, it's extra weight. Aero extensions is for gradients around 4-6%. I don't believe a 10 seconds gain in 3 km is significant when you have to climb after for almost 20 minutes.

I'm really scared of tomorrow's stage.

It's been years since a sprinter was able to lead. There's bound to be a massive crash.

Pogacar was there before Dauphiné. He's been preparing for this Tour for more days than last year. Remember, last year he was at the Giro in May, and this year he was preparing for the Tour in May.

Yates yes, since last year because his level has dropped.
In 2023, he didn't pull anything.

This year, since his level is lower than last year, I have no doubt Yates will work.

The problem with domestiques is when they're young or have options.
Maybe Ayuso, at 32, is a good domestique :sweatsmile: , but now he feels young and strong. That's the problem.
In 2023, Adam looked at his classification. For Pogacar, it was as if he had been a rider for another team.

There will always be conflicts of interest when a rider is young and feels strong.
This isn't a criticism of Almeida; it's a reality that has always been seen in many teams.
If Almeida is third and Pogacar needs him to sacrifice his classification one day, it's natural that he'll not make the sacrifice until the end.

I am one of those who thinks it is better to have several Majka than second leaders acting as domestiques.

the point is that those first flat 3-4 kms can make more difference than you might think. Vingegaard will very likely use the Cervelo S5 which is one of the fastest pure aero road bikes, plus he will use TT aero extensions. Pog will almost certainly use the V5rs which on the flat is a slower bike and we'll have to see if pog uses tt extensions on that bike.

How much do you think? It is 3 km (with 300m at 5.8%).

Pogacar was there before Dauphiné, doing the recognition in Peyragudes.
Besides, he's been preparing for the Tour for more weeks this year because he hasn't done the Giro.
I don't understand why there's any doubt that he hasn't prepared for it.

I think the flat time trial problem is a matter of material, but Pogacar wasn't going to criticize Colnago.
Because according to what he's posted on Instagram all year, he has indeed trained on the time trial bike, contrary to what he said at the Dauphiné. I suppose he said that to avoid criticizing Colnago, but getting close to Jorgenson's bike was a subtle way of complaining.

But he won't have that material in Peyragudes.
He's recognized that time trial. For me, he's the favorite.

Man I'm just speculating that pog and uae haven't gone as deep as visma in terms of specific preparation of that stage, it's more of a feeling I have, as I said I might be completely wrong and pog hopefully wins

the point is that at the dauphine we have all seen that even in few Kms of flat you can loose a lot of time. Pog there lost 30 seconds in the first 5/6 kms of flat. Of course nobody has a clear idea of how much that was due to materials and in the MTT they will use different bikes, but I expect pog to loose something like 15 seconds in those first Kms.

It gives the image Netflix wants to portray of him.

Every year it's a biased documentary. This year, Pogacar was cast as the villain because that's what Netflix wanted.
It's sensationalist garbage. It's not a documentary for those of us who truly love this sport.
