Dont know what Roglic should have done, then just stick around and be of help if needing to. He didnt need to though. I find it weird to suggest anything else or that he did something wrong. Criticizing for absolutely no reason.

Novak didnt look like he had much left, no matter what he says.

Instead of letting other teams or riders take command... Pog started to test others and quickly found out many of the others were on the limit or simply couldnt follow. Perfect scenario that Del Toro was strong enough, unlucky for him that he had gotten his feeding wrong. Inexperience and consequence riding for a small nation where this could be a problem. Not having many to support you or remind you.

If Pog had waited or not tried to make a selection, he would have had to rely on Roglic or himself to maybe stop attacks or riders trying to get away.

Better to do what he did. It was the right instinct.

This what you get when there is no radio. Riders having to think for themselves. Trust their own judgement and make up as you go. Hope for the best.

Pogacar made the right call. I just think Roglic putting a hard tempo on Mount Kigali would benefit Pogacar more.

Isn't that how a teammate sets up an attack? Seems like it for almost every Pogacar major move in GTs or single day if he has the help. Slovenia was on point when it counted.

Pogacar and Roglic ride well in races like this, IMO. Tadej was at least confident to start the excitement and, when it became clear the only guys that could ride with him were those he would outsprint. By the time he shed DelToro it was clear no one was coming for him if he rode within himself; which he does exceedingly well.

The last 100km probably mirrored some of the training he was doing at camp; likely at the expense of top-end TT power. Add the heat/ozone/air quality to the mix and it's the sensible way to finish 6 hours of work.

Excellent reminder of TP's consistent success in the different specialist realms. Remco stands alone in the ITT and may indefinitely. It's an amazing talent he has there. He likely again considers that if he changes his stature to become that more competitive climber it will cost his TT ability. Tadej clearly prepared for this cruel RR better than anyone but he can't do both either.

Excellent reminder of TP's consistent success in the different specialist realms. Remco stands alone in the ITT and may indefinitely. It's an amazing talent he has there. He likely again considers that if he changes his stature to become that more competitive climber it will cost his TT ability. Tadej clearly prepared for this cruel RR better than anyone but he can't do both either.

I think Remco has problems staying "light". He probably loses power.

Chapeau to Pogi! What an impressive ride. It was much more impressive than last year where there was more G2 syndrome and he had that mini-crisis in the final lap. This time, he was in control for the whole 66 km solo. G2 was more organized than last year and they were still not gaining time on him.

2/4 done. Montreal and Sallanches to go.

Looks like next year, Pogi is doing the heavy classics + TDF + WC + Lombardia combo again. For 2027, I'd like to see him target the Giro-Tour-WC combo again. Maybe he does not care about it but no one has done the "Triple Crown" twice and 2027 will be the last WC to really suit him until maybe Trentino 2031.

No, he is doing Vuelta next year. He will go after P-R next year, as he said. He said 2023 his goal was Flanders, he delivered, 2024 he said his goal is WC again he won. If he didn’t do Vuelta this year, I don’t see why it wouldn’t be the same next year. Next year looks to be the same schedule as this year, minus UAE Tour and Amstel-Fleche probably.

You just said it, if he skips UAE Tour he gains two weeks (with Strade 4). I think he can go to Strade and LBL without to much pressure so he needs to have only one big peak at spring (RVV and P-R as main targets). With UAE Tour till LBL is just to much time to stay focused. Also i am pretty sure Jonas will ride Giro next year ot at least he will not go to Vuelta. Rwanda ITT looked just too good on paper for Tadej and RR even more and it made sense to go all in this year. Also if he wins GdL this year he will already be record holder. Next year WC RR is still good for Pogacar but not so much as Zurich or Kigali or WC 2027,WC ITT 2026 will be flat. So skipping Vuelta to prepare for WCRR would be huge risk with this Slovenian team.

I agree with him but worth letting anyone who was watching their own countries broadcast instead know that this buffoon was totally dismissive pre-race of even the idea that the long lap might produce the defining move of the race. Further evidence of what a useless pundit Blythe is.

and even more so that Elvis left the building at 100km and properly used what little help he could get until 66km. He's a good tactical rider and doesn't waste energy.

With WC in Canada it makes sense to skip the Vuelta again and ride Quebec/Montreal and then stay in Canada until WC. With EC likely in Slovenia I don’t think he would go for Tour-Vuelta-WC and risk being burned out before home EC.
