Teams and money dustribution need a huge overhaul as well. Current model is outdated. So i would not mind if they started feeling the pain as reult of bad management from the uci on all accounts.

That loss of revenue might force a rethinking from the UCI. Short of scandal, which is how they’re managing the issue, it seems unlikely.

Cause more people watching , or a status quo in viewership would mean nothing changes.
It's only when they are practically forced to change that they change.

mind you some crazy billionaire who sets up an alternative calender or buys out races and moves independently may kick UCI behind in a frenzy as well. Ultimately UCI will reign supreme. But just like the ABA forced the NBA to do better, same could apply to the UCI.

is there really fewer people watching? did you see the crowds at Strade Bianche? I mean, Pog and Strade/Sanremo/Roubaix reach the big public, not just us fans here analyzing the race moves and watts. I too wished he could get caught on Saturday or I'll wish he loses the TDF (but I wish he beats VDP in Sanremo-Roubaix)

Watching the race along the route is different than watching it on television. My family likes being in that crowd too, for the atmosphere and the excitement of seeing the riders up close, but they almost never watch a race on television. People who watch in on television get bored these days. I guessed that he would attack 80 km out and when that actually happened I didn't watch the race anymore. I briefly checked the battle for second a few km from the finish. So I assume actual time watched is at risk of going down even if a similar number as before are still watching it briefly.

Yes they track it. They can tell when you turned on, off, how often you visit the channel, the subject. They have algorithms that steer content to you based on what you watched within the program. So if Seixas is sucking and you tune out, they know, if Seixas is successful and you watch until the end, they know, and they know if you prefer your Seixas in the morning, afternoon or evenings..

If he beats VDP in San Remo and Roubaix I think that may be my tipping point to never watching cycling again. Preferably someone else entirely wins though.

It's very unlikely he wins both so you won't stop watching. MSR could be pain in the *** for Pogacar for his whole career. As for Roubaix it's attritional race with some random events: Pog has great engine and could win at some point (he may even focus more on it more in the coming years and add more kgs).

I think you are too dramatic, but I also understand your dislike. I'd watch in any case, whatever happens. I can't stand VDP so I prefer if he gets beaten and the only one capable of is Pog

Perhaps, but I gave up watching for about 20 years around the time of the Festina scandal so not altogether impossible I'll do it again.

I don't know anymore. The thing that annoys me the most is that he never has bad days - unless 2 other top riders catch him in their stress trap (Rog & Vinge).

It's like a given, that he simply coasts to victory and even strong groups can't hunt him down.

The key has to be to reel him in like it was a TTT, but with guys that made kind of a deal beforehand.

If Vdp, Mads P, WvA, Asgreen etc. went in TTT mode to catch him, and made that the goal if he attacked so early on, then it would be a different race.

I would love to see more partnerships in the peloton like this, to increase the chances for others and keep Pog out of the game.

Notice that list of names required to have a small chance. it's absurd. I understand someone standing atop the pyramid.
But for the gap between that person and others to be that big is just strange. They're all elite athletes, the gap should be smaller all things considered. something is off.

I always kept watching, and I was a Festina fan, I had great hopes for that 1998 TDF after their super 1997. probably I watch without the need of believing or trusting or hoping. I shout if the riders I dislike win, and I clap when riders I like do well. I like it too much to stop watching, even if it's the 2024 Giro d'Italia ahah

Pogi weights 90 kilos now and is ready for Roubaix. It's logical that he generates a few watts more. Marginal gains!

They said on the Cycling Podcast that the RAI viewing figures were the second highest in Strade history. Apparently only 2020 was higher. No idea where those figures came from, but the Cycling Podcast is fairly reliable.
