Here is another option:
Remove the fork from the bike and repaint it in color(s) that match your frame. Simple to do it yourself using masking tape, spay paint cans, fine sandpaper, and a clear top coat. Lots of advice on doing this on the web.

Tarmac frame repair

Contacted calfee and they suggested that I send them the fork for follow up repair. Still not too clear on what they can to to mitigate the appearance but they are trying to satisfy my concerns. We shall see ....

Looks like you made what was probably a real minor thing into something major by trying to rub it out. What's more important, a structurally sound frame after a repair, or a little overspray from the repaint? Priorities man! It's only a Specialized, not a full custom Cyfac, or anything close.

Ultimately it is lame for Calfee to not mask properly. They wouldn't send one of their own frames out like that. But it's on you for being anal about appearance. That comes with the territory when you worry about stuff that doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things.

The only thing that matters is the bolded.

Everything else is your skewed commentary.

'It's not a great frame,' compared to such and such???? Huh????

The kicker is the Freudian analysis. Nice!

I don't think a Specialized, Trek, Giant, Mc Donald's and Burger King bikes are worth the trouble of a repair or repaint. By the time you get the bill for the work, even shoddy work, you've already paid more for it than it cost to produce the thing. You're not the first to be annoyed about what I have to say about the big brands, and you won't be the last. Some can handle it, water off a ducks back like the OP, or they can't. Whatever.

It's on the O/P to be anal about the shoddy repair???? huh????

I'm not annoyed about what you said about the big brands. I'm annoyed by your less than worthless psychological commentary..

Although the fact is in a blind taste test most high end frames from who ever the heck they're from "work" just as well as the next...

Bike snob....

The repair is fine, the OP even admitted he's "anal about appearance".. Get a grip fool, and maybe some reading comprehension while you're at it.. Pffft!
