Guess we can say that Movistar have no faith in winning the maillot vert, as surely this is one of the stages they'd really need Rojas going for it at the intermediate.

Great news for Cavendish - this break wipes out the intermediate completely.

Large break. It's a small peloton.

Going to be a very interesting break, I think there's already a few lessons to be learned:

Roy and Vanendert don't seem to interested in the polka dot jersey. Today is the stage to get points for it in the break but neither are up front. This means it will probably go to one of the big guns (hoping for Samu myself)

Gilbert probably gave up on the green, he could have easily bridged that gap any time he wanted but he let it go, i think he'll focus on seeing what he can do in the high mountains and maybe help Vanendert.

And finally Leopard is probably going to try and blow things up in the valley between Port de Lers and Plateau de Beille. With both Voigt and Gerdemann up front they can get some serious pace going in that valley. This might mean something could happen on the Col d'Agnes and and Port de Lers as anyone that would be dropped by that time could lose serious time if Voigt pulls in the valley.

Of course. Helps that my 3 year old woke up at 0230 (and no, that wasn't a pleasant wake up call).

Probably dreaming it won Tour, then gets a bad phone call. I'm not really awake, just typing.

Movistar tweet that José Iván Gutiérrez and Rui Costa are now riding across the gap together.

Ah now it can be an official break, the last 3 years Gutierrez is required to be in the break to make it an official one.

He's in the chase group of 7 that are just behind the break, so it's nearly official.

Normally Mollema (2nd castilla y leon, 5th Tour de Suisse, etc) should be the best climber of the group. But after his illness earlier this week, I'm not sure
