Cavendish may have won , but he clearly struggled in both his sprints today. WHen he kicks usually he makes everyone leave his wheel. He couldn't even break Oss today. If TF had been on his wheel TF would have won easily..

He's cleary tired and he'll struggle through the Galibier and ADH stages. I think its 50/50 that he'll make it to paris.

As for what TF was suggesting. I've never seen any clinic issues linked to Cavendish before. Well, no more than what all cyclists get

I didn't get the impression Farrar was referring to hanging on the car to get over a mountain.

As a matter of fact - the first place I came to see if anyone was talking about it - was the clinic.

Those were some harsh words from Farrar - at least that is how I took it
Hmmm JV's comment is not as direct, but more on the ironic side:
Well, congrats to @MarkCavendish. That was an impressive win.

very harsh words, and not things that should be thrown around without something to back it up.

Pretty sure Ty was referring to Cav's magic carpet ride off the BACK of the gruppetto- holding onto cars. For all we know, he gotINTO the cars the way the race officials operate.

Glad to see he's angry. Now maybe he can take off those designer frame rose colored glasses that Vaughters hands out to the team and realize what a corrupt little backroom organisation the TdF is. Why did Lance taunt Vaughters about not getting his bee sting taken care of? Because Lance knew how corrupt the whole thing was to begin with.

They want Cav to win, so they they turn a blind eye. Rojas has publiclly stated it that Cav holds on all the time. It happens every year.

Why do you think Cipollini called Cav out for being fat and out of shape?

I am thrilled that Tyler stated this in public. Now ,aybe someone will have the sense to get some video on an iPhone and show the race what Cav does. If I were Farrar, I would hire someone to do it, so Cav gets shown the door before Paris.

Or, someone could put cameramen on motorcycles who follow the riders, or maybe even put a camera on a heli? Or have race officials, team cars and neutral service vehicles in the race to make sure everything's kosher? Or ask people to watch the race from the side of the road and make photos? Oh wait, all those things happen already and yet nobody could provide any proof of Cav doing anything illegal/unethical.

Or maybe it was sincere.

Doubt it. Prob trying to smooth things over after Ty' angry interview. HTC about to fold, Cav to SKY, small world, no point in making enemies. Plus Vaughters is such a little girl, would never stand up to Cab, or anyone for that matter.

For example:

@Vaughters
Jonathan Vaughters
@avrilmair ...Btw, my offer of team car ride for fashion week tickets is still on.

Also Eurosport admit that green jersey rules were made especially for Cav. That Prudhome thought it was a shame Cav hadnt won it yet.
which is why i requested the rules be changed back now that it's been accomplished...

Lol.

And make it even easier for them to take photos by putting cameras in their mobile phones... and make it easy for them to instantly upload these photos onto the internet by building mobile phones with web connection.

Then all we'd need would be a way of sharing this content... a "social network", if you like. (I don't know if that phrase has ever been used before, if not, I'm taking credit for it!)

So, that's all we need to do in order to catch Cavendish and his relentless cheating.

I know this is a bit "Tomorrow's World", but I think that, within 10 years, all this technology will have been created.

Lets see, why would Rojas come out and publicly accuse Cav if he didnt really know or was reasonqbly certain?
Why would a level heqded Farrar explode in an interview.
Hint, because they know.

BTW, if Cav isnoff the backmof the gruppetto, there are zero race officials, zero motocams, zero video-motocams. Witnessed this myself on mynmany times atbthe race. Astonished to see Axel Merxck just cycling along at the sode of the road. With traffic all around, people walking across in front of him. No one but no one there at all, waynbehind the broom wagon.

StGe to Luz Ardiden, 2003, hors delai

Oh yeah, another thing, the French love shenanigans like this. They cheer for those guys hangingbonto cars and push them. Witnessed mynself, in person.

Get over it.

Recall a similar whispering campaign about a certain LA starting in 1999? How he was doing so well. How did that end?

Only Tyler got close to Cav so nothing to be ashamed off because he is seriously fast. Cav has beaten quality top line sprinters this year and not just B or C listers like Feillu or Ventoso or whatever.

JV with the usual rubbish and nothing to be concerned about.

Good god. In the first mention of the interview he supposedly said it in subtext, in the next message it was described as a cryptic message, and now we learn he EXPLODED.

Since you are guessing as to what Farrar is referring, I'd say he hasn't come out in public and said squat.

Anyhow, just to fan your flames. From the recent Giro:
http://www.velonation.com/News/ID/8...h-of-holding-onto-team-car-up-Mount-Etna.aspx

That would be the Ventoso who is currently Rojas's lead out man. Francesco Chicci also called Cav out............................but was later photographed........
...........hanging onto a car.

I repeat, as Green jersey wearer, Cav would have been heavily scrutinized by a commisair, throughout yesterday's climbs. Of course, said commisair would probably been french, so............

I stress IF this was his unhappy message, I find it all a bit rich, coming from a guy who's team were happy for HTC to work for 150kms and turned up for the last 3kms.

After the accusations of a few days ago I guarantee you that there was a photographer glued to Cav's group for the entirety of yesterday's stage. If he rode the car up the mountains we would know about it.

Really? Where are THOSE pics.
They' be funny to see.

Is someone's word that he did it not enough for you people??

No.

Particularly as Eusebio Unzue, the Movistar manager was quoted in L'Equipe this morning saying a) that Rojas hadn't said anything and b) that he doesn't think that Cavendish holds on to cars.

Source: http://www.lequipe.fr/Cyclisme/breves2011/20110717_022822_cavendish-impossible-a-battre.html

«Rojas n'a pas dit ça, reprend Eusebio Unzue. Et je ne crois pas que Cavendish ait triché. En tout cas, c'est la responsabilité des commissaires».

In truth, neither do I, but a reliable poster here, mentioned it elsewhere and confirmed, so I take it as read.

Whoa, I have never seen Tyler so upset/mad. In addition to his cryptic comments about Cav's "remarkable comeback from the gruppetto yesterday," he had really angry words about the finish...something about how he couldn't believe they would have such a dangerous finish at this point in the TDF.

Sour grapes as usual from Garmin, look what they did to Renshaw last year because they couldn't take being beaten. Can't they be content with what they have won so far, I see no one was suggesting anything funny about Thor's win which was just as suprising (I thought it was great no complaits, just comparing reactions). Also here is another link backing up Cav has not been holding onto cars.

Pescheux dismissed the accusations, saying to the Independent newspaper: “Rojas always looking for excuses to win. I have no problems with Cavendish." According to L'Equipe, the broom wagon driver also denied that Cavendish had cheated after being dropped by the gruppetto.

Omega Pharma-Lotto manager Herman Frison said that "Philippe has not complained. He just had a little chat with Pescheux. The conversation was not about Cavendish.
