This is a bit off topic and I don't know if it needs it's own thread but......

Would it be a good idea to, on these flat stages when the bunch all finish together, to just stop the time at 3km to go? That way all the GC favs could sit up and roll in and let the sprinters do their thing. It would reduce the numbers at the front and from a pure safety point of view i think it makes sense.

Thoughts?

Stephen Roche said that in his time, he and the other favourites would make a pact that on the sprint finishes they would stick close to eachother and just roll in together calmly some seconds after the winner.

Im not sure if they had the s.t system back then though.

See my response just below this post - I'm trying to recall a problem caused by GC men after the 3km point in a sprint. The problem is the 3km cut off causing them to stay at the front until 2.5km. On days like this it should be extended back to 10km so they're out the way, but there are no problems caused by GC men sitting in 100th place in the tail of the pack after the cut off point.

10km would be better.

What i'm getting at is maybe reducing the numbers for the finish, especially for the more technical ones.

Ticker saying something about couple of HTC riders on the front... That has to be Lars Bak and Danny Pate I would imagine.
This break is doomed already.

That Skoda TDF advert they play on Eurosport is absolutely AWESOME.

Dont know if they play it on other TDF broadcasters so for those that havent seen it.

Might just be enought to convince me to buy a Skoda:p

Saw it for the first time in Aus today at 5am...some 6 hours after the tour. We've had to put up with a crappy stencil ad with blaring, annoying music. Hopefully that one sticks.

I can tell you study linguistics and not theology.

Well, yes. Obviously.

My lack of knowledge and interest in theology is part of the reason I will inevitably go to hell.

please tell me you are being sarcastic.

Nope :p I like sprints :p and the final 20 K's of the stage; the way trains form and others try to take over. I just like watching it :p

EDIT: I also was trying to annoy Libertine a bit :p
