+1. And Wiggins should autobus it and act as lead-out for EBH, and give the final TT a go.

Bet Henderson is thrilled he missed a TDF ride for Wiggins today.

Can anyone realistically see Wiggins maintaining his "GT contender" tag next year? His interview during the rest day suggested he was already considering dropping it.

nah, he has cracked under the pressure. thing is who are sky going to look to now? they have said they want a british tour winner by 2015, thomas i doubt, kennaugh maybe but he is really young?

Way off topic, but what's with the podium girls outfits this year? As a Frenchman might say- Heedioos, just heedioos! Am I wrong?

Not wrong. None of them look good. Someone blind in charge of it all this year?

Maybe they could sign Contador and make him take UK citizenship..

I just noticed how close Moreau is in the KOM competition.

Any chance Caisse lets him try for it? I always liked him... I'd like to see him pull that off this late in his career.

I have to say, I like how exhausted everyone clearly was at the end of the stage. Heads dropping, bikes swaying right after the finish line, riders sitting with their heads in their hands... not 100% certain it's a sign of a clean tour, but it's definitely a sign of a well-raced tour.

No. Absolutely terrible. Looks like they had to sew them all the night before the start.

The 2015 thing is nothing more than media blitz!! There is no chance they have a winner by then.

Yeah... and he'll still be coming in second behind Contador at that point... unless he learns to TT better.

very disappointed with wiggins, couldn't even hold leipheimer. for ****s sake. ended up rolling in with rogers who cracked near the bottom of the climb. guess he won't be the first british tour winner then. wait for kennaugh to get some races in his legs:D

Leecheimer may be a wheelsucker, but he is ten times the climber Wigans is.

The funny thing is that months ago I predicted that Wigans would blow up on the stage to Pau in just this fashion, that he would lose contact on the final climb and the other contenders would ride the descent and the flat to the finish, gaining to a huge time gap. I guess I gave him too much credit. He did not even make it out of the Alps.

could have been a lot worse for wiggins, and sastre. thing is, if they lose this much time on this sort of stage, ax3 domaines and the tourmalet are going to kill them.

I am officially getting off the Bradley Wiggins Grand Tour Hype Train. I hoped he would come to the Tour de France this year with better climbing legs and more confidence, but he's been pretty feeble. He should bulk up a bit, get some of his horsepower back, and focus on winning TT's and maybe trying to improve on his 20th in Paris-Roubaix a couple of years back.

As far as Grand Tours go, I think it's time all us British fans started shifting our unreasonable weights of expectation over to Peter Kennaugh. White jersey in 2011? You heard it here first.

Amazing stage indeed-today is the proof that this yea's Tour is only a duel between Andy & Contador- the rest of the GT riders are just there to fight for the spoils.....

i have had enough of british TT specialists. i'd rather brad ride hard for a top 10 and have something to look at in teh mountain stages than have another glut of prologue specialists.
