That is pretty lousy imo. really, I thought Brailsford guranteed him a tour spot when he signed the contract.

It was my understanding that the only guarantee to the Sky riders was that they would all ride in a grand tour in 2010. To guarantee any rider other than Wiggins and Boassen Hagen (sp) a Tour spot at the time of their contract signing is not realistic.

Surprised by Koren and Vandborg the rest was quite predictable

@ ttrider, Agnoli and Kiserlovski are both young riders who already performed really well and worked really hard in the Giro, I would think that a tour as well, would not bring up the best in them, they would probably be weaker in the third week than those selected

If I were a DS at Caisse, I would give Kiryienka a free role and let him go for the overall. No use in having him kill himself for LL Sanchez, who IMHO is not a better climber.
With no Valverde to protect, this could be the only chance Kiryienka gets to ride for himself in a GT.
I don't see him any weaker a GT rider than say, Mick Rodgers

All that being said, it's probably never gonna happen. He's a workhorse and will probably never be allowed to ride for himself in a GT.

As for Liqui, I too was surprised not to see one of their top sprinters in the lineup.

Probably Oss, he had a real good classics campaign this spring, really showed a lot of skil on the cobbles

Lefevere has done it again: in a stroke of genius, he forgot to put Weylandt in the 15 rider preselection for the Tour, and as such Weylandt can't replace Boonen in the Tour squad.

True, but also a ridiculous rule. They have to present this preselection in april!

Oss, Kuschynski, Quinziato are all good. Besides Basso was ok on (admittedly shorter) cobbles in 2004.

I'd say Quinziato. He's pretty good on cobbles. Oss is also useful.

Lampre clearly looking for stage wins. Nice to see Simon Spilak. I hope he can recapture his Romandie form.

Well, he was very good at the Giro, but if he wants to beat Contador and the Schlecks going uphill, he'll have to produce much better numbers then those he produced on Zoncolan and Mortirolo.

Donno about Chicchi, but Bennati wasnt in the pre-list of 15 names that it's given to UCI around end of Spring.
Same happened with Pietropolli at Lampre.

Maybe, but he did top 10 in the Vuelta last year; given that Fuji had to appeal to get themselves into the race, and struggled to get invited anywhere because of the Saunier Duval history, he'd have been daft to have been on the program then.

Nah, I think more likely he's just simply had a very poor season. He's supposedly back-loading his year, and has never been comfortable with being one of the leaders, but overall has just been terrible, suffering from minor niggles and never really getting over them.
