I am looking forward to the season beginning. I know some disagree that this is the start of the season. But we really need some new discussions in the forum:D. Just hoping for some coverage online.

just the usual highlights packages and then the last two stages live. :(

I can see light at the end of tunnel.
Must be the TdU.

I hope its not the Contador trainwreck which would somehow dim my anticipation.

Since Contador is prepared to go to Argentina and race in January, I hope the TDU pull out the stops to get him to come back to the TDU in the future and hope that he can win on Wilunga Hill, located outside the town of the place that he considers his most important victory.

I really want EBH or Sutton to go well. I am going to go up to either Sutton or Rogers down there and tell them they can do so much more with their careers ( though Rogers is quite old now ). Sutton does have good intuition though for sprints and had a breakout year ( for him ) Also i want Porte to do ToC, so i might try convince them of that as well.

Why are you sad? You strongly dislike TDU?

i was being sad for the person asking the question.

I dont strongly dislike, i think its a very boring parcours, but at least its a chance to see all the new team lineups and jereys, bikes etc.

I do think its
a) ridiculous that it gets world tour points and is as prestigious points wise as Paris Nice, Dauphine etc. As a race it galls me that its worth so many wt points when half the riders are treating it as a warmup race and not taking it seriously. This race alone makes sure that Australia get at least 6 men at the world championships each year.
or
b) its ridiculous that as a world tour race it isnt shown live for all stages (even joining the race with 30km to go and showing the closing stages live). All WT races should be shown live and the UCI need to sort it out.

Right on the money with bold parts.

This year the only people who would have earned points would have been Goss, Meyer, Bling and maybe McEwan.

I do agree on this. There's scant coverage of Catalunya, Pays Basque. No wonder these races are dying when there's no TV coverage.

País Vasco is shown live, there is not scant coverage, and the race is not dying. It's one of the healthiest of all the Spanish races, along with Burgos and San Sebastián. ETB cover it in full depth every day. You can still watch all of the coverage from the 2011 race on their site.

Catalunya, on the other hand, that one's struggling a bit. ETB were as far as I know the only channel covering it, and they only showed half hour highlights broadcasts. Maybe TDP used the same coverage in Castilian, I don't know.

which is why its idiotic the uci creating new world tour events like beijing when the existing world tour events still need help, dont have live coverage etc...

fix what youve got before trying to do more..

I don't speak Spanish and my Basque is about as good as my Korean (ie non existent) and we get no coverage of the race on Eurosport in English (in Australia) and I hate watching streams. Cyclingnews coverage could be a lot better, compared to a lot of other races.

So we can expect you to kick up a big fuss when the Spanish races are on?

Ag2r La Mondial for the 2012 Santos Tour Down Under:

Martin Elmiger (SUI), Manuel Belletti (ITA), Kristof Goddaert (BEL), Blel Kadri (FRA), Romain Lemarchand (FRA), Matteo Montaguti (ITA) and Boris Shpilevskiy (RUS).

Past AG2R riders who have won this race include: Simon Gerrans in 2006, Mikel Astaloza in 2003 and Gilles Maignan in 2000, along with Elmiger in 2007. AG2R are the only team to have the TDU since the inaugural edition.

Was Morton pegged as going?

Nah, but he's doing the Nats so I figure he's around. Langkawi is in February now so that's not a problem (if CDT are going?). Would have been good to see him in Adelaide but I figure he either doesn't want to go, or the system doesn't want to acknowledge him.

Shpilevskiy is an ok sprinter but might struggle. He could rack up a few wins. ( And no i did not pick him in my CQ team ). I think at this race he will lead out for Belletti. I do like Kadri ( he was in one of my Velogame teams this year ).

A pity about the Spanish races, but the TDU is not at fault. Its' races like in China where the money lures the riders to a non-existent fan/ ground base.
It's good that there is still a Uni SA team ( even with GE ). I expect Von Hoff to go well maybe in Stirling. Palmer can lead out on the flat stages.

the races aren't uci;'s

uci governs everything and it's up to the races to survive which is logical. the crisis is hard in spain so it's natural races are disapearing
