Always amazes me how ridiculous people get with the this Ineos are ruining the tour crap. Not their fault that they were smart enough to have riders up at the front like you should.

Amateur hour for some of the other teams..

Different year, same story
Well, my friend, Sir Dave is still a genius, Tim is still the best at getting the lads physically ready, Nico still does the best and most thorough recons and of course Fran still does what she does ... so we should expect the same result. Lots of racing before this Tour is over, but the lads are well positioned for more good results.

I love them
Ineos pulls a great stage and smashes it and teaches how you ride in crosswinds (again) and other teams get caught out (again) and the Tour sucks

Jumbo wins 4 stages (imagine if Ineos did the same) and it's all fine

ahahah

Sir Dave has coffers full of money - buying every super-talent that *other* teams have nurtured. I'm more impressed with teams that have half or a third of the budget and manage to be present and win races all year round.

As I said, Sir Dave is still a genius ... able to find money when everybody says there is none. All part of the game.

Ineosky. Ruining the TdF since 2012
Its not Ineos fault that a 22 year old riding his first GT going for GC is able to avoid losing gobs of time on a flat stage when people like Fuglsang, Porte, Landa, Pinot couldn't.

Study the subject first before making statement ... .

Exactly. If anything, Ineos created a good race today. That can't be said of any other GT teams so far this Tour.

They should be getting credit for what they done today, not negatively

Agreed. It's easy to be annoyed by them and take what they do for granted but episodes like the way they got Thomas back to the group on stage 8 and today's cross-wind smashing are incredible. This team is much more than just a mountain train. A discipline in which I agree they will not excel compared to previous years.

Except that they will.

They smash whatever they need to, and always have enough dudes on the days that it matters.

I only wish that Bernal was a bit more protected today and taking less turns :( (I have a feeling that he could outclimb GT huehue)

'What do we want'?
'Interesting flat stages'
'When do we want them'?
'Oh, not today, not like that, that wasn't what I had in mind'

Its a bit rich blaming it on ineos money alone. GT is the definition of a rider who came through the ranks.

it's more down to an interesting stage with needful protagonists and victims. although, this time i agree. even the 2012 tour saved much more of intrigue at this stage of the race. there's no contador who could start flying in third weak, no quintana in fantastic shape, nobody. just for the sake of excitement there is tiny hope for something not going according to ineos scenario. but it is highly unlikely.
1. thomas
2. bernal (won't be allowed to outclimb thomas even if he can)
distant margin
2-3 guys fighting out 3rd spot.

It would be different if they wouldnt have built their team on money, but on the same prerequisites as everybody else.

I think it is evidently clear this team races under different conditions and can thrown money to build the superior team and the whole operation around the team. This were I also blame UCI. They should have regulated this a few years ago, so everyone has the same cap space etc. One team shouldnt become dominant because they just have more money than everyone else.

It's not that I'm angry they attacked on a flat stage, If anything I actually really like they were doing that. I'm just annoyed that this has probably ended the fight for yellow before it even really began.
About the whole, a gc rider has to be good on every terrain, I agree but I don't think yesterday was a very good example for that. At the end of the day, when it comes to crosswinds gc riders are heavily reliant on their team and that's why sky or now ineos leaders are usually on the right side of the peloton when the crosswinds hit. Like, you can't really argue a lightweight guy like bernal (or mas, who is riding for qs, for that matter) who has basically zero experience in situations like yesterdays would also get an advantage over fuglsang if you just swapped their teams. This had very little to do with individual strength.

And don't get me wrong, it's okay that a strong team is an advantage. That's just part of the sport. But it just once again boils down to the question if the advantage a team like ineos has due to their ressources has become too big.

I don't entirely agree (of course I do to some extent). Porte said that he just didn't have the legs and that the gap opened in front of him.

In Paris-Nice, Bernal and Quintana almost created the echelons themselves.
