Plus Froome is much better at positionning himself than Contador or Quintana. Smarter rider. Sky will be more than fine on the flat. The question remains whether Froome can have more than a minute advantage coming into third week. Of yes - game over considering strength of the team

With all the discussion about the Brexit, will team Sky be affected somewhat with the drop of the pound?

Only a brief answer as this shouldnt be in RR section
Sure,in the short run (1-2 years) as its a company operating in european countries but not immediately.I would guess that maybe the budget for next season (or the season after) could be affected, but it depends on GB tax policy and Murdoch sponsorship strategy and Im not expert to none of those.
(And on EU policy which is unpredictable, but I think that GB will be just fine in the long run if nothing brutally unexpected happens)

Froome says he won't fade late on. U can't help but think the different prep will help

Hmm, I still think he will be worse than Quintana in the 3rd week, even tho one of Sky's trademarks seems to be to defy physiology. Or at least try. But, it will be very interesting to see if he indeed has taken a different approach and how that will impact the race. We will know in he Pyrenees.

I actually looked it up and his third week in 2013 was fantastic by most standards he won two stages.

Ventoux was still 2nd week, and he undeniably faded on stages 18 and 20.

But he faded a lot more last year than he did in 2013.

He was strong in last week in TDF 2012 too tbf, and Vuelta 2014, but that was different because of the build up to it.

I'll get worse in the last week
I'm may be not good enough
I'll lose a lot of time in echelons
I'm actually in really crappy shape
I'll get wrecked in they attack in the first week

Only Quintana beat him last year over the last stages. in 2013 Rodriquez did 2

You shouldn't underestimate 2013 Purito. He was better on the climbs than Valverde last year or Nibali/post-Giro Contador.
And there's a major difference. In 2013, he lost time on AdH because of his hunger knock (relatively inexperienced), and at Annecy-Semnoz, emotion got the better of him, which certainly widened the gaps.

In 2015, he might have been ill, but your immune system does get weaker after the efforts these guys put in day in day out over the course of three weeks, so this would be more of a physical problem. That said, I also think that Froome was stronger back in 2013 and 2014 than he was in 2015.

But he's shown enough in other GTs to suggest that he's got good enough recovery for the 3rd week too.

Re: Team Sky Discussion thread

In some morning transfer news, Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf have reported Team Sky are looking into signing Steven Kruijswijk from LottoNL-Jumbo after his breakout Giro performance in May."

Wouldn't make much sense. Sky already have Landa and Thomas capable of leading in GTs. Also with Adam Yates potentially joining in the future as a leader and Seb Heano, Wout Poels, Sergio Henao all capable of developing into GC riders why would you block their development?

The only reason i could see was if they expected Thomas to leave? or to not be able to sign the Yates in the coming years?

Sky keep doing this...buying top level leaders even if some of them sit out the most important races...Obviously they have the money to spend and obviously developing riders is not their raison d'etre

Well ok I suppose if they can afford it and the riders sign but must hack off some already there that they have no leadership opportunity

No way are SKY developing either Henao as a leader or Poels as a GC leader ( he wil get his chances in the classics). Hell even Thomas is all in for Froome at this Tour and he is one of the riders they want to develop

Pile em high is their motto and as long as they continue to win the Tour they'll keep doing it...

One would think if Steven Kruijswijk signs fro SKY it would be for Giro leadership ..not a happy prospect for Mikkel Landa ...but then again Richie Porte knows all about that

Zzzzzzzzzzz I'm fed up with Stage racing Sky.

If Sky hires the best GT talent, who's left to lead other teams. Talk about neutralizing the competition....

It's like Postal on steroids (no clinic-pun intended) with Heras, Popo, and Salvodelli. Buy up the GT podium finishers.

Damn, Sky just posted such a sweet video on twitter. I seriously got very emotional when that little girl said Go Mikel, win the Tour.... Aupa Landa and Nieve, haha.

Maybe they realize that G will never be a GT rider. despite the time spent to develop, there will always be limits that will never be surpassed. And this from Cyclingweekly: Subsequent to his lacklustre showing in Switzerland’s national tour, Thomas and Sky’s management have reassessed his role and he’ll now start the Tour with the same remit as last season, to support Froome whenever and wherever he can.

For Yates, he is not interested to go to Team Sky perharps. No rules for a brit to work for Sky inevitably
