The team really doesn´t look that strong this year. Sivakov and Amador seem to be affected by early crashes in the race. Castroviejo, Carapaz and Kwiatkowski are looking in an ok form, but much weaker then Kuss and van Aert. Didn´t see anything from Rowe and van Baarle yet in this years tour...
Ineos had become an outsider role for the win of the tour...

Carapaz selection proving to be very valuable for Bernal

He should be getting stronger as the race goes on, given the Giro was his target.

It’ll also be interesting to see if Sivakov starts to show improved form in week 2 after his terrible crashes last week.

Yes, that is what I thought too. Yesterday, Bernal looked like he was at his limit.

Seeing Jumbo acting like Movistar yesterday must have motivated INEOS. Bernal's also stronger than last year in the first week, so they're still in a very good position.

Honestly... part of me can't help but wonder if some of this shows just how important Nico was to the team.

Destroying their own team without gaining anything.
They took out a bunch of GC pretenders and also dropped the whole Ineos support team so if JV riders are destroyed because they dropped off does that not also mean that the Ineos ones are.

And if anything it is Ineos acting like Movistar dropping domestiques back to help a second rate GC guy in the crosswinds for no reason

Jumbo used their climbers in the crosswinds, and saved their echelon-specialist for the sprint.

And still had the fittest climbers the next day and won the sprint.

JVs tactics yesterday were very close to coming off but Bernal got very lucky that he had some top GC guys around him that also needed to work to get back to Rogalic

So where were Bennett and Kuss? Who cares about the sprint?

They were gone, due to bad form/crashes/working in the echelons. Bernal had Carapaz working for him almost until the top.

Ok you are right I'm wrong everyone can clearly see Ineos are having a better tour and look way stronger than JV. The snails pace Ineos set and all the Ineos riders dropping off the bunch is just tactics

Ineos were smart in the crosswinds. They put a lot of effort in to make the echelon and increase the time gap but then peeled off the front and let the other teams do all the work.
