It's sort of perspective of the uniformed that because oil money appears to be limitless that is reality. Depending on who and where oil at @$65-70 dollars a barrel or oil traded in currencies other than US dollar and big issues. Total Energies signing on for sponsorship responsibilities is a good thing overall but it's a cautionary tale..the auto market is volatile world wide , cycling enjoys sponsorship money from multiple brands currently and those funds should also never be counted as a forever flowing source of revenue.
As if things were not strange enough globally, Ineos Grenadier uses a very old school marketing approach in North America and year after year sales in the US for example are above average. The company gets pre orders and has sold out for each year since entering the market. Other car companies use metrics based on inventory ,none even Toyota and Honda always have leftovers were Ineos doesn't. So if sponsorship money is based on big market sales like US that's a good thing because yes overall car market has issues, currently Ineos products enjoy some niche space.
The thing that should concern British cycling buffs is that while sales of Grenadier are decent in US they aren't great everywhere else, despite @40% jump in North America company overall sounds pretty shaky. And George Hindcappie shouldn't see an opportunity because car companies in the US don't dump money into bike racing..

Still lots of others in the business don't see them surviving..? Would Ineos still sponsor bike racing if lion's share of sales were outside Europe? We shall see.
Will Total Energies end up with multiple teams?

Total-Energies will back Bernaudeau's teams (Pro team and Devo team) until end of 2026

Absolutely true, part of the oil outlook is lower demand estimated for next @2 years.
Oil company investment in bike racing looks to have have some economic immunity despite overall industry they still spend on sports sponsorship. And most of the big countries and companies only put a few million into bike racing which is a tiny fraction of 1% of what they make. Ineos certainly has better stability than many others.. Visma for example.. And currently 3 teams are upside down..
Development teams look like an excellent risk reward ratio based on overall investment.

Kits are fine, we are going to argue about what colors are most pretty? Really?
At least we can tell them apart from a heli shot

Nothing against the colours.
But the Spring Classics sure are gonna be interesting. :smilingimp:

(Or, the cowards will have a special kit with black instead of white for rainy races.)

From the British Continental site:

"INEOS Grenadiers are expected to launch a new U23 development squad in 2026, marking the team’s first formal step into structured talent development. The project is being led by Performance Director Scott Drawer and Pathway Manager Simon Watts, and will likely operate at Continental level, potentially in partnership with German outfit Lotto Kern-Haus PSD Bank.

Details remain under wraps, but journalist Daniel Benson has reported that up to seven riders are already earmarked for the line-up, including Max Hinds, Dylan Sage and Josh Charlton. The team is expected to focus on developing riders capable of progressing directly to the WorldTour squad, strengthening INEOS’s long-term British and international talent pipeline. The question is, will the team have a British licence?"

Of course, they could already have the likes Brennan, Onley, and Hudson in the team, but it's encouraging to see the new management continuing to rectify the ineptitude of the last few years.

It just doesn't work that way anymore when teams naturally attract homegrown talents on to their teams. It's a competitive world out there.

Ineos signed Welsford and see „plenty to unlock“.
Welsford is not made for european style of racing, he is Not able to get „fresh“ and in good Position in the last km.
Powerwise I think he should be able to win outside of Australia, but I dont know how Ineos should get this done, when Bora failed at it? Ineos is not known for being a super Sprint Team

Where is skijumper roglic fan for crucial analysis regarding “The ripped thighs and bulging chest of Samuel Welsford.”
Actually welsford is shoulder dominant rather than chest dominant, as analysed below

So Sam Welsford currently clearly is the #1 sprinter, aesthetically. Sam has shoulders like cannonballs, and brutal front thighs and calves. His strength in the upper body is so massive that he probably could tear apart a carbon handlebar with bare hands. Sam is built of pure muscle from head to toe, and is so strong that he shouldn‘t shake Kelderman‘s hand, to not cause a bone fracture. Welsford furthermore is really broad, and has excellent core stability. A pleasure to watch. He is the road pro who looks like Justin Gatlin, body-wise.

So, Storm got moved down to conti level (again), this time the new Ineos academy team. This means that his initial 3-year-contract he signed ahead of last year is essentially void.
It also means that the WT team now have 2 more spots available...

True but Ineos has quite often gone with only 28 or 29 riders rather than the full 30 rider roster so it doesn’t necessarily mean they’ll fill both spots.
