Well, the most obvious thing that springs to mind is personally petitioning both departments of justice on the island, and the northern department of culture, arts and leisure to consider criminalising doping and the facilitation of doping in their jurisdictions in response to the arrival of the Giro.

The Northern Assembly only got responsibility for the criminal law relatively recently, but it now has the capacity to lead the UK on a subject which is cross-community and a win-win for the political parties - of which there are very few. As a civil servant there are strict limits on what I can do in that arena. But I'm going to do what I can, and I'm hopeful of progress given discussions I've had. I intend to continue pushing on the issue. I may not succeed, but I'm doing something.

It doesn't, but it's a fair point. 2012 Wiggins is a quantuum step above 2009, 2011 or 2014 Wiggins - but his showing in Roubaix is rather easier to explain than his GC rides. A powerful pursuit and good time-trialer might very well be expected to do well at Roubaix style races.

As for 'wiggins fan'...I'm reasonably impressed with reasonably impressive showings. I can set my dislike of the person in a non-clinic setting aside. Same goes for Valverde actually; he's a doper, and can be a cretin, but he's an impressive rider I actually enjoy watching.

I'm an actual 'fan' of Dan Martin, and to a lesser extent Quintana. I like Ten Dam too, reservations ann all. I actually enjoy watching them do well. But don't let that get in the way of a personal attack or attempted smear; wouldn't want to interfere with the only MO you have.

Do you have an elected representative? Can they be written to urging action on the funding of anti-doping or the criminalisation of doping? There's something you can do. If enough people do it, elected reps tend to respond.
